I glad to see this video. I'm former Marine Infantryman from 97' to 01'. We were issued the ALICE gear with the LBV. The ALICE gear was and is just as good any anything out there now. I've been trying to get the guys in my area to understand this. They are slowly coming around. You don't need to Gucci-flage gear to get the work done.
@terrysmith4831 Жыл бұрын
I was Army '86 - '91. We used ALICE II gear. We were issued the Y suspenders, belt, two 30rnd mag pouches, one canteen and one cup. I had my own rig with H suspenders when we were in the field. I kept the issued stuff for inspection. My rig had 4 mag pouches, a butt pack, 2 canteens, cups and pouchs. I still have it and my medium ALICE pack, set up and ready to go. HOOAH !!!

The ALICE pistol belt and suspenders are designed to work in concert exactly as Stoker is wearing. You can't go wrong with ALICE gear, it's simple and easy to use and upgrade with Fastex strap clips and a MOLLE II hip belt.

We always lined our ALICE packs with a few 30 gallon black trash bags. Because we would use them as flotation devices.
@mervmartin2112 Жыл бұрын
For sizing of the pack, a standard ALICE pack will haul 40 pounds of tomatoes and 6 pounds of onions and peppers. They make great farmer"s market shopping bags, especially when you've a 15 mile bus ride home. (The salsa was great!) I love the contents of your pack. I might add 90%(go higher but not lower) rubbing alcohol. Sterilizes feet before putting on foot powder. Especially if you've managed to get blisters. Plus it's a fire accelerant.

USMC 83-89, 03. We were issued ALICE gear, and as someone mentioned previously, most of my guys went to Saigon Sam's and bought field gear, saving the crap we were issued for inspections (gotta be pretty when we turn it in and all that). We went with H harnesses instead of the Y harness due to the buckle right in the middle of your spine, which a few guys fixed by using 550 cord in place of the buckles. To this day I still have all the stuff I bought, including a large ruck! Still run it in the field when I can ( a few times a year - getting old is not nice (62 currently)).

If you have the 2 qt canteen strap, connect it to the cover, run it the buttons on the outer pockets, through the handle on the e tool while it's in the cover, weave it behind the center of the frame support and connect bact to cover. Keeps it tight.

I do find that the MOLLE II canteen/GP pouches are a superior option to exercise over the ALICE canteen pouches. I'm playing with a setup that is ALICE ammo pouch-MOLLE canteen-MOLLE canteen-buttpack (repeated both sides, obviously sharing the single buttpack in the rear). That way, the ammo pouches are ammo, the canteen pouches flanking the buttpack are water, and the middle canteen/GP pouches can be anything from IFAK, to more ammo, more water, NVD (with padded insert), or anything else you can fit in them, which is a fair amount!

I have the shoulder straps exactly inspection ready. We duct taped the clips in army for silence also. I use mine for recreational camping, hiking backpacking . Its just a good tool for outdoor activities. I also have a alice pack, which ive had these since my days. I have a bunch of the newer gear. My Ar15 io have outfitted like the M16A2. My ideas of, for fun and functioality to theme my tactical gear of that of the 1990s, and besides the body aurmor of todays soldiers, i think this LBE and gear is a better choice as the militaryt has used it for over 50 years. Many of todays military have issues with the gear they uniform

After hundreds and hundreds spent on modern gear, my kit setups have tended to revert more towards the ALICE style of setups. Most my pouches aren't cheap stuff with Direct Action Gear, Blue Force Gear, Spiritus Systems mixed with mil surplus gear etc, but the layouts and things I put into my kits go more towards sustainment in the field rather than just the slick minimalist stuff everyone's been running this past decade. Slick stuff is cool for range fun but reality is, if there's a CW2.0 or incursion by a foreign force, us civilians aren't going to be getting supply drops or friendly convoys for resupply. Depending on where we are, we might be days or weeks out having to scavenge for what we can to keep going.
