Also, in the Japanese article that I read way back when this adaptation was first annouced last year, the producer of the series (Morii Akira|ROBOT) mentioned that they envisioned working with "Japan's ace of young men and women", and stated how "there are only these two, I think". So yeah, people might disagree with casting KenTao here but they are the pick of the team, and are the only candidates, it seems like.😊

The source material is very good, no doubt about that, the world and the rules themselves are cool, and the genre would solidly draw in an audience. This is my absolute favorite manga so if you're looking for a sign to read it, then consider this one as such! And daaang, Kento and Tao really do look like Arisu and Usagi, and Tao is sooo badass! Hopefully this won't disappoint, I have faith in the leads so let's see how this goes. Hopefully they mostly stick to the story, and considering that it's Netflix, hopefully there would be more seasons, since adapting the whole manga in 8 or so episodes seems unlikely. Ganbarre KenTao and the rest of the cast and crew!!!🤩

READ. THE. MANGA. THIS SERIES IS SO GOOD! If you love Kakegurui and Angel Beats? You'll love Alice in Borderland, along with it's sequel. But you have to read Alice in Borderland, now I just might re-read it. This series honestly deserved a better anime, but live action? I trust Japan's directors/creators to stay true to the manga.

SO true. My favourite thing about the manga were the flashbacks that nearly all characters got. Even though some were just a few pages, the creator made each flashback so unique and interesting. There was one in particular I cried at and I hope they did in this Netflix adaptation. (it's in regards to the samurai man at 00:56 )

Spoiler Alert: Wikipedia - Arisu, Karube, and Segawa, a trio of highschool delinquents, are bored with their current lives. True, Rurouni Kenshin comes to mind when you speak of well-done live action adaptations. And just like what Pizh here said, Sato Shinsuke handles live action films well enough, like Kingdom and Inuyashiki. Also, from Tao's (Usagi, the lead female in the trailer) instagram post, she mentioned that the author of the manga, Haro Aso, went to the shoot so we can think that they at least consulted him/he approved of the adaptation. But let's still see when this gets released😁

@@braveoil13 Darwin's Game is more power fantasy, even has a waifu for the protag. AiB is more psychological and less fantastical. There are no super powers and the challenges appear to be practical. It is also, unlike Darwin's Game, gut wrenching and depressing in some parts. It's kinda like Game of Thrones and Attack on Titan.

Yeah, let's hope for more! This actually seems very relatable, details are on point (characters' outfit, Beach bracelets, game venues and CGI). The cast is also awesome, I was afraid too at the beginning because this is my favourite manga. Did you watch other trailers? Tao's the protagonist and Kento is... the childhood friend.😏 They have insane chemistry sksksks I won't say anything more but - now I'm not saying you should watch it but if you're interested you could, and I'm definitely recommending it haha - it's 15 minutes per episode (150 episodes) and the theme centers on chasing dreams so yes, definitely relatable. AAAAA I guess this is the part where I say welcome to the fandom?😂 Because welcome!! Haha and they are good, thank you for yor kind words! Although they were confined to their "live action prince/princess" persona since they got casted in a lot of shoujo live actions before, they definitely are diversifying now. And my fave actress Tao! I can definitely tell that Tao is a very good actress, she gets the spotlights on her even if she's not in so much scene. The scene where she talk to her dad and the few frames where we can see badass Usagi in the dark are the best of the trailer, I think she'll be fitting this role very well! Yeah, about two months to go... I'm going crazy about this live-action. Be sure not to miss the upcoming first chapter of "Imawa no Kuni no Alice Retry", a new spin-off of the manga that will come out in two days!

It's more psychological than fantastical so it shouldn't be impossible to recreate on a TV budget. And the manga is a complete series, as in it already reached a full conclusion.

Just givin' an answer to the question: "why do we live?". "Imawa no Kuni no Alice" aka "Alice in Borderland" is my favourite manga.

Since you also read the manga, I'm gonna tell you some of my spoiler-y thoughts lol 1. first, good detailed breakdown of the trailer! 2. I kinda have a feeling that they'll cut this season up until after the Witch Game, which is a good enough cliffhanger considering the things they'll discover after that game 3. Since they didn't announce an actor for Kyuuma (whom we could think of as an important supporting character considering the effect he has on Arisu's life), I think they really would make another season. Or maybe this is just me looking for reasons for them to continue lol, it's just that I feel the manga would be properly adapted if it would be divided up to 2 or more seasons, and this amazing manga (like you, it's also my fave) deserves a proper adaptation. It sucks enough that we only got a 3 episode OVA, at least I hope that this would get properly adapted onto the screen. And it's Kento and Tao, I trust in both of them. From the trailer alone I could feel that they'll do great😁

Since they didn't announce an actor for Kyuuma, as you said, I don't know if they'll come with the Kings/Queen speech before the end of this season, what are your thoughts? We need at least a voice actor for that. I think the season will end at 01:06, I'm disappointed to see Chishiya as a part of the group (he's a solo player after all), but maybe it's right after the end of the beach saga. I think it'll go this way: - First game is Three of Clubs (as the manga says) but without flaming arrows (it's better to give budget to the Witch's game) - Second game is the Five of Spades (they press the buttons in the trailer, hope to see horse-head guy as well) - Third game is the Seven of Hearts - Fourth game is the Four of Clubs (Arisu and Usagi meeting again and going to the beach together after this) - Fifth game is the Ten of Hearts (then the season end in cliffhanger) I think they can fit it all in 8 episodes (but I'm hoping for 10). Do you think they'll show us the Two of Hearts and Shibuki's past? Also RIP Dodo for sure (hope they'll put him in season 2, they can't skip the King of Spades).
