I knew Walt Disney went way back, but I never knew he was combining live action with cartoons. I didn't even know that even happened in 1925. What an inventive mind. I grew up in the 60's watching Disney on a black and white TV. It was so cool when my mom bought our first color tv, I suddenly got all these new friends, a couple still are my friends to this day...

Disney wasn’t the only one. In old Betty Boop and Popeyes Max Fleischer used real 3d background sets in front of which he would photograph the animation cels, and the background models were mounted on a spinning wheel to move with the action. Fleischer himself often had his cartoons coexist and act with him at his actual drawing table. Search the “Out Of The Inkwell” cartoons.Fleischer invented rotoscoping in which the animated character was traced over frames of live filmed actors, evolving a more natural looking animation.

I'm trying to hunt down the uncensored German version of this animated short. If anyone can help I would be greatly appreciated. The deleted segments are the end of the Bootleg Pete chase with the pelican dragging him on skis. He pulls a bottle of whiskey out of the pelican's mouth. This was removed from the American version because of prohibition laws.

Some of them are actually lost but this isn't one of them. Just because it's not streaming doesn't mean that it's lost. About 18 Alice Comedies shorts are at least partially lost.

Mickey & friends x Funko Series 1 brought me here 😅. Collected the whole set and was watching the cartoon shorts the figures were made from. Pete is one of my favorites and after watching him kick Mickey and Pluto off the train I found this gem. A true classic

It was literally the 1920s, when most movies are silent. There are many attempts to include sound in movies but I guess technology at the time is probably so primitive they never went mainstream.
