Jerry was always the soul of the band aka the meat and potatoes. Layne was overrated not when it came to his talent, but to his actual contributions to the band. Aic's sound comes from 90% Jerry

(according to internet sources)...and grunge is by definition a fusion genre of alternative rock, heavy metal and punk rock. Basically AIC is a rock/metal band (not 100% metal, not 100% rock).

This has a Sickman vibe and I love it. Layne Staley was the best singer of all time in my oppinion but we cannot deny this amazing band any longer! I was a Duvall hater like 10 years ago and I'm ashamed of my stupidty back then. AIC still delivers and has one of the strongest claims of popularity.

I've always felt like Layne's voice carried so much pain in it. Was always palpable. You see shades of it in Jerry's voice now. I don't mind Duvall but he's a good singer and nothing more to me beyond that. Jerry still has me listening to them decades later.
