Always cracks me up when people suggest that post-Layne AIC isn't good because Layne's gone. Layne was an amazing talent, without a doubt, and I mean him absolutely no disrespect in saying this, but Jerry always did most of the heavy lifting as far as writing and arranging, and DuVall's a pretty big talent himself, not to mention a fantastic facsimile of what Layne would be doing. The harmonies are on point. You still get that same chill from it. And Jerry's got as much of a right to the style and sound as anybody who has ever walked the Earth.

Keep FIGHTING, lady! You can do this! 💗🙏🙏🙏🤘 With a 13 yr. span of abuse- every kind of abuse you could throw at a 3 yr. old ,on!) At the hands of the man my mother married when I was 3, I KNEW even at that young age, it was WRONG, and started running away when I was 4 yrs old, ALWAYS being brought right back there into it, even though I told the police MANY times what went on.. But, I used MUSIC to get me through those years- ( he would throw me against a wall corner where they met, and it hit my spine, quite painfully, and knocking the wind out of me so I couldn't fight back, but when I was 16, this ONE time, it didn't work, and I used all the things they teach in self defense class to fight off an attacker, had him on the hall floor, rolling around in pain, and began kicking him in the head and told him if he EVER tried to touch me again, in ANY way, I'd kill him, and he knew I meant it. He NEVER even raised his voice to me again much less beat me or touched me inappropriately, or used mental abuse, never spoke to me in anything less than a respectful manner, But MUSIC was my ESCAPE every day of my life till then, and it still helps me to this day, Thank God for ROCK N ROLL! It kept me SANE, for a lot of nightmarish years growing up, back in the day when teachers, neighbors, and parents wouldn't help because "it's a domestic problem I had to work out for myself" I didn't have AIC back in the day, but as soon as their music hit the airwaves, they became an INSTANT favorite for me!❤

Facts, this is one of their best songs ever regardless of era. Layne is my favorite singer ever and obviously he’s missed but as long as Jerry is around running the show writing the music and Sean and Inez are around crushing the rhythm section they will be alive and well. Duvall may not be Layne but he’s still a great singer and he fits in with the band well and most importantly has fantastic chemistry with Jerry and the harmonizing is still great. He does a good job with Layne’s material and does great with the post Layne stuff plus the addition of his quality guitar playing is a positive. Ya they may never reach the peaks they did with Layne but they still rule and are still one of the best bands in the business. Long love AIC, hopefully we get a new album from them in 2023

Ree McLaughlin I love William and he’s a great singer, songwriter and guitarist but it’s also true that in this song he’s singing Jerry’s lyrics and Jerry’s designed harmony parts the way Jerry wanted him to sing it. If you listen to Degradation Trip you can hear Jerry doing all these kinds of vocal harmonies himself. I feel like most fans have grown to appreciate Jerry even more than they already did, just as they do William, and rightly so. Again, William’s great but part of why this works so well is because in a lot of songs, like this one, the music and lyrics are all written by Jerry, as they’ve been on a ton of Alice In Chains biggest hits, both during and after Layne - because the guys a musical genius. That doesn’t take anything away from Layne being one of the greatest singers of all time or William being pretty awesome himself, it just so happens to also be true that Jerry’s like the maestro of the band and most of the songs, both music and lyrics, are written by him.

@puppetmaster85512 жыл бұрын
People downvote this because they dumb as hell. Layne is my favorite singer ever but the no Layne no chains crowd is the fuckin worse. Band was at their peak with Layne forsure but they’re still a damn good band and will continue to be as long as jerry is around writing the music

This song has always been my favorite post-Layne AIC song. It's perfectly choreographed brutality and sadness all at once. It's so hard to listen to without tearing up over the loss everyone felt over Laynes passing. There's so much in this song it's amazing. We love you Jerry, keep on keeping on brother. All the best from Australia.

The genius of Alice In Chains right before our eyes! Such a totally mind blowing brilliant song! I have the clear vinyl pressing of this album & every song sounds amazing. I’m sure Layne & Mike are looking down right now with a big smile on their face as the AIC legacy lives on 👊

Such a beautiful song. I appreciate how the melancholy tone was offset by the studio footage of a few guys fuckin around and smiling through. Thoughtful contrast to the somber mise en scene choices and the song itself.

This is beautiful I love behind the scenes in the studio. Alice In Chains have been my favorite group since 1990 and my love never wanes. They are my sanctuary , my church, my light in the darkest times. If anyone from AIC reads this.. when you go in the studio to make your next album (which I hope is soon) more of this please❤️
