It's amazing how accurately Layne was able to double track his vocals. Even his vibrato in each take matched up perfectly. Layne had insane control over his vibrato.

During “yeah here come the rooster” parts jerry is taking a lower harmony, other than that and the ooo’s at the beginning and end it’s just layne the test of the song, albeit heavily reverbed and layered but thats normal.

I do my utmost to ATTEMPT to match laynes, ive worked tirelessly on this song to the point i almost hate it…but the only part that trips me up is the first “ya know he aint gonna dieeeee” tricky run that goes all the way up to G4 cant recall if its sharp or flat but same damn note as man in the box which i fuck up constantly xD

Mesmerising vocal, and his control is amazing. He's the greatest rock singer of all time in my opinion, not just on record but live. This is where he has the edge over Chris Cornell, but in truth I think they're joint greatest - Chris has the edge in range and power while Layne has the edge in soul and depth.

I am not trying to undermine Chris, I love em' both and I listen to them a lot everyday. It's just my personal opinion that may sound bias but I don't care, from the 90s Grunge era it is Layne's vocals that outclass everybody else's. But Chris Cornell is up there too!

This is actual vocal track they used in the mix thats why the reverb and delay is so clean. These vocal weren’t extracted from the song…. these are the vocals. We are so lucky to have access to the few songs out there with the actual isolated vocal tracks available. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Just messing around, holding back the power. A whisper here a couple humms there, then bang he opens up and it's a fucking storm. I love his voice, even at low levels. However I've always maintained that you can't even really hear his voice until his ribcage starts rattling. Just fucking brutal. The best vocalist who ever lived and it's not even close. Yeah there's Chris Cornell, Steve Perry, Geoff Tate, Christina Aguilera and a few others but seriously, it's a wrap.
