I always believed this is by far one of the best songs AIC ever recorded, I will never forget the very first time I've ever heard Rotten Apple, I was a young teenager about to finish High School, a buddy of mine would pass me Jar of Flies and I waited anxious until I got home, I put the cd on the player loud and it just blew my mind, now I've got 29 and still amazes me as the first time!!! Edit: Now I have 36 years old, and I am still amazed as the first time, thanks for all the comments!!

I think the best part of a song like this not having a music video is that your mind can interpret it however the song hits you. This song has such a dark yet deep impact. It’s like a man realizing his end and the madness/misery around him. At least that’s how I interpret it. I just discovered AIC last year and man, these guys are the reason I fell in love with grunge and I just keep discovering more hits by them. This one hits deep And I’m an inner city kid from NYC. That’s how powerful and widespread their music is. Bet Layne and AIC never thought their music would reach and speak to so many years later
@Retro_Vertigo Жыл бұрын
Really cool interpretation. The song was written by Jerry Cantrell (lead guitarist for newcomers) and is actually about emotional betrayal. The lyrics are incredibly dark in their own respect. Hands down one of the toughest songs to listen to once you have a grasp of its meaning.

Listen to the whole facelift and Dirt album’s for two months I’m just moving onto jar of flys. This song going to be played all week. Any recommendations my fellow AIC fans for other great songs by Layne? I heard Sap and his songs from Mad Season. I just can’t get sick of there music off the charts addicting to listen to. No other band has ever captivated me. RIP Layne. Miss you so much buddy, I never met you. Wish you could’ve kicked heroine and made so many more epic songs. I understand Jerry keeping the band going with William Duval. Duval will never fill Laynes shoes. Don’t get me wrong, he great, but Layne is a legend a pioneer in his own right.
