The results are IN!! I won 3rd place in the Experienced Category for my "Alice's Afternoon" soap entry!
Alice’s Afternoon - This is my entry for the Experienced Category in the Soap Challenge Club. My inspiration for this soap is The Golden Afternoon from the animated version of Alice in Wonderland. This was one of my favorite childhood books/movies. The design I wanted to attempt actually came from a catalog image of a shower curtain with three tulips. I have been holding onto the clipping for I don’t know how many years - this was the perfect time to give it a try! I used 2 different greens for the leaves and 6 different colors for the 3 flowers - two purples, 2 pinks, yellow, and orange. I used the idea of a secret feather hanger swirl (or secret flower hanger swirl) for the flowers. And my hanger swirl tool of choice? It is actually a real wire hanger that I’ve had and used since my very first hanger swirl.
I had a wonderful time creating for this challenge - it was honestly a breath of fresh air to play with techniques, both new and old. I have used the hanger swirl technique in the past, but never really with a purpose. Thank you Amy Warden with the Soap Challenge Club for giving us the outlet to really push ourselves! And thank you to this month’s sponsor Nurture Soap. I made a total of 10 batches of soap for this challenge because there were so many options that I wanted to try - every one was different! I don’t think my family has seen much of me this week, so I thank them as well for allowing me creative time. And thank you to my friends and family who were inundated with texts of new and exciting cuts (and laughable “fails”).

What size are your little cups for color mixing? Love your 3 floral design!

Just little dixie cup sizes! The larger blue ones are about 8 oz. They are the perfect amount of "flimsy" for squeezing the sides.

Thanks! I pulled out my notes, but I actually didn't write that part down! I'm pretty sure I did the base as half the soap and then a quarter went towards the greens (divided that in half for the two greens) and the final quarter divided into 6ths for the flower colors.

Thank you! Once they are cured, they are about 2.75" square and 1" thick. The cured weight is about 4.5 oz. They are a bit bigger when freshly cut.
