I'm sorry to hear that Philip has died. I always enjoyed watching him on 'Alice.' I feel so bad for Nancy and the whole McKeon family.

I remember this episode the most, the part when Alice hears through the grapevine that Tommy had an accident while in Mel's care and Alice agreed not to interfere so she disguises herself as a man with a moustache and hat in order to join Mel's poker game I'll never forget when she spoke in a deep voice and said" hey little boy, what happened to your arm?".

Ha! Hopefully Mel will be sober enough NOT to run over Tommy's foot again! One of the most touching lines from the series finale was Tommy saying to Mel that if hadn't hired his mom to work at the diner, "I wouldn't have had you for a second father."

i really miss seeing this show 😟 how come they dont show reruns of Alice? and why r Alice DVDs cost so much? they dont even show full episodes on KZbin 😟
@TheMistysFavs8 жыл бұрын
*corymartin100 ---- I didn't know it was on DVD...expensive, huh? Probably because of all the work restoring them? I'll have to check on it, I love this show. I just heard yesterday that Beth Howland (Vera) passed away New Year's eve and had no funeral or anything as she told her husband before she passed that she "didn't want to be a bother." That's sad. It was at a UK news site. There are some 60s shows on here with full episodes though.. Mr Ed is one, and that's hilarious.. I'm still looking for more. Just in the mood for some GOOD TV. Have a nice weekend!

+Mary Mclocke oh wow. how sad. i hate to hear actors from our favorite TV shows pass away 😟 its hard to watch i love Lucy knowing that the whole cast is dead 😢and the Andy Griffith show. although ron Howard and gomer r still alive
@GeorgiaKev8 жыл бұрын
Wow, I didn't know that Beth Howland died. Just looked it up on Wikipedia. Amazing how they kept her death a secret for five (5) months! While I felt she overacted the part of Vera, I'm still sad to see that another regular from the show is gone. Vic Tayback (Mel) died in 1990, I believe. Both Linda Lavin and Polly Holliday are 78. Marvin Kaplan (Henry) is still alive and will turn 90 in January.

It is a great show, but I agree, Vera's character was such a caricature and an exaggeration at that. I found her annoying. They could've made her dumb without making her that dumb! Was it necessary? The fact she has a heart of gold is overshadowed by how idiotic she sounded and acted most of the time. Sorry to hear, though, that the actress who played the part died. It's always sad to lose someone from an old show. It marks the end of an era. I didn't know Vic died that many years ago. Hope Linda and Polly stay healthy for a long, long time!
@kaladwarakanath55037 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. It is sad to see the passing of an era when actors from old show die! While Ron Howard is only in his early 60s, Jim Nabors is alive and well at 87, thankfully!
