The mountains are so peaceful during winter. Wildlife appears to be everywhere with less hikers on trails. I have been to Yosemite years ago when I skipped out of San Francisco right after a job interview I went to. My recollection of a National Park Lodge would be in Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies. We stayed at one of the log cabins there near the Chateau, it was picture perfect and a very romantic setting ❤ 🇨🇦

Wow Alice! What an amazing blog you have! Great music also. I’m behind in watching about Yosemite because I’m an hour out of Tahoe. But I’ve been watching about Mammoth as well, and I realized I’d better check on Yosemite. And they have closed the park due to 14 feet of snow on the valley floor!!!! 😳 Goodness me! Guess it will be a long time before I can go there now. Anyway, love your channel. You have a great skill in photography and video recording. Beautiful title placements. My sisters took me to the Awahnee for my 50th birthday years ago. We stayed one night in the main lodge and a night in a cabin. Both were wonderful. And I made a friend with a little wren who hit our window. I took my sister on a day trip once and we saw a bear. We were told her name was Cinnamon. Yosemite, one of the great beauties God has made for us. Been many times and can’t wait to go some more. Blessings and safety on your travels.

Ice crampons are necessary for ice fishing at times , especially when it is windy on a smooth as glass ice surface and you are trying to push or pull a ice shanty, or heavy sled. Snow shoes should be packed in if the snow is over 8-10", a person will waste a lot of energy pulling their foot out of the snow with each step, wide cross country skis are the fastest and most efficient way to cover long distances.

Yeah, The days are short, The trees have no leaves, There are no flowers in Winter and The snow covers the mountains in winter. This is a beautiful place in the world, There are so many forests, The forests are green, There are big mountains, The mountains are high, There are big meadows, There are big waterfalls, There's a great river and The river flows. Thank you very much for this video, This video is definitely worth watching because I feel like I'm in this place. Greetings from Lima, Peru. 🇵🇪🦙🇵🇪🦙🏞️🏞️🌲⛰️🏔️🌲🌲🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸🗽

My profile picture may never change. The views and overlooks along Yellowstone Falls Trail make the switch-backs worth it. Maybe someday I'll stand in the river during winter as I once did in summer. If the water was cold then, I can only imagine... The scent of the Mariposa Grove in winter is probably less fragrant than spring/summer, but that feeling of being a small, insignificant human exists year-round. I could lay on that bench looking up at The General for hours marveling at its qualities. Quaint. Dominant. Resilient. Peaceful. I'm overdue to revisit.

I’ve been wearing the Kahtoola Nano Spikes for almost a decade. Huge fan. Our trails are ice for a good part of the winter and I’ve never slipped once, even on an icy incline, on their carbide tips. And they only raise your foot about 1/4" or so and seem to last forever. They raise your foot so little, you can jog in them comfortably. I use the Micro Spikes for more climbing in an ice and snow mix. Anyway, their products are a necessity when traveling on foot in icy conditions, IMO. Complete piece of mind for me. Having to constantly think about how to step without slipping on a hike is EXHAUSTING. Sorry for the rant. Thank you for the video, Alice. Winter would definitely be the time I would want to visit. Love the cinnamon color of those tree trunks against the snow. One of my favorite things about winter hiking.

I grew up in the woods so black bears do not scare me and if you remain quiet and don’t startle then they almost always leave you alone. Other advice chains for your tires, and lots of layers

You will need to buy chains at a hardware or auto parts store before entering the park. Make sure you check the days you are going does not require a timed entry as February is firefall and all the weekends and some other days need permits to get into the park.
