Alicia McCarthy: Visually listening to bands of colors

She says someone commented about her painting that, "I could do that." As if what she does is simple. It's not. The interconnection of lines and the weaving of colors that she does is incredibly complex. She makes it look easy because it's so flawlessly executed. As an artist looking at her work then trying to duplicate it as an experiment, it is amazingly intricate and as technically proficient as any "realistic" artist out there.

First time I see her painting and listen to her voice and her body talk and her powerfull vibrating colors and lines ... it's not a choice, I just know: I love her and more important I love her work !
