Awesome tape! :) Al-Anon/Alateen, known as Al-Anon Family Groups, is an international "fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope in order to solve their common problems."They "help families of alcoholics by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic."
Al-Anon was formed in 1951 by Anne B. and Lois W., wife of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) co-founder Bill W. They recognized the need for such an organization as family members living with AA members began to identify their own pathologies associated with their family members' alcoholism.

I am here because I have only begun to "see" how ill I have been in regards to emotional sobriety. I am still in tears... on and off... just beginning in AL-Anon. In listening to the similarities NOT the differences my heart is torn with grief over my dysfunctional mind, heart and spirituality. I know the HOPE is in Al-Anon and I will follow through. Oh, but the pain is still so raw at times when I listen to these speakers. So... much work to be done! A new way of living to be learned. One Day At A Time.

Oh my sister...Al-Anon saved me from total insanity many yrs ago. The window watching...the crack ...the rehabs...Including a faith based 9 mon rehab...but still..the past 4 yrs of relapse. Separated 7 months. We crazy love each other. Thinkin seriously about divorce. 38 yr marraige. But love ain't enough. Love, a fellow Al-Anon sister.
