Nice play. To my hears The Grandeur wins. In the arpeggio the difference is obvious, and the coverage from bass to treble is far better than Alicia's Keys.

I absolutely love your comparison videos. And I love that you're playing a $400 Casio digital piano, so superbly. It's all about the piano sample libraries or something like Pianoteq. Wonderful.
@tomlewis47482 жыл бұрын
What I've always loved about The Grandeur is that the timbre has a high soaring voice that is reminiscent of a female soprano. It sounds human. I'm a little surprised at how much better The Grandeur sounds here. The notes all sound like they belong together. They have a certain consistency that the other piano doesn't have. And they work well together-if you listen to a right hand chord or left hand chord, the notes fit with each other better. Alicia's Keys kind of sounds like it's all over the place, and the notes don't fit together with each other well. The notes sound like they're fighting with each other, yet in The Grandeur they seem to complement each other. This is reflected all the way through this video. But there's also a place where this really sticks out: At 3:20, listen carefully to the G sharp played repeatedly with the right hand. I believe this is 'River Flows In You', apparently in the key of A. it sounds really dull and almost muted compared to the other notes. There really seems to be no consistency between notes in Alicia's Keys. Then compare that to the same passage at about 4:30 on The Grandeur. The difference is stunning.

Thanks for posting, Jun Jung! I've been using Grandeur for about a year now, but I'm really liking the Alicia Keys after listening! Granduer's high register has such good clarity, but I love the richness of the middle register on the Alicia Keys :)

First of all very nice performance and thank you so much for making this comparison video. To me it seems like the Alicia Keys is a darker tonal sound and I agree with Angelina Martinez in the comments that it also seems to almost over compile itself with processing as the pianist gets stronger creating a bit of compression or artifacts. The Granduer is a brighter piano and seems to sound more natural when played stronger. In my opinion I think if I had to choose one of them to download I would go with The Grandeur because even if I wanted a darker sound I could eq it to sound more like the Alicia's Keys. It would be a lot harder to try and make the Alicia's Keys piano sound as clear as the Grandeur. (I listened to this using a pair of Mackie HR824 through a QSC TM30)

For Kiss the Rain, Alicia Keys heard closer to the original version of the song. Warmer and soft while Grandeur is bright and sharp.

VSTi, like "Keyscape" or "Grandeur" I only need "Kontakt" if my VSTi needs a host, like "Grandeur".But "Keyscape" does not need a host, I think. An audio interface is primarily for latency, right? And the convolution reverbs are dense come with filters included and are amazing! Comes with compressor and final EQ, stereo image, keys velocity curve control and so on...at an affordable cost! I prefer the Hammersmith Grand over the most recent one (Pro), but by contacting the SONICCOUTURE Company its possible to switch between both versions I think, just check with them first! @musicmakesyoustrong7 жыл бұрын
icantfindit008 I think the Grandeur (which is sampled from a Steinway D) or Alicia's both beat Yamaha's built in samples every day of the week. Yamahas samples from the CFX in clp 685 (and other clp models) are quite flat especially when it comes to the base, they lack the real warm depth. Also they don't sound as "close" as these VST's do, The Grandeur and Alicia's sound like you're literally standing right next to them, it's amazing. If I were you I would go for a cheaper CLP model and spend the saved money on a good VST instead. That's what I've done at least. And yes you hook it up to your computer, the sound will come out from your speakers connected to the computer. Hope this helped.

Jun Jung Hi Jun! What do you mean with "pure stock". I hear a distinct difference between The Grandeur and Alicia's but I can't point to what exactly it is. Is there a reverb on Alicia's? It just sounds so much..hmm more rich and full? I've bought the Grandeur and now I'm starting to regret it. Any help is much appriciated! 😃 Thanks for the video and have a great day!

Amanda N.K Built in concert reverb were used on Alicia's Keys, but there were no reverbs on The Grandeur

Jun Jung I see! Thank you very much! 🙏🏼 I don't think I have a concert reverb built in the Grandeur program. Last question (sorry): Is the reverb from an external program or was it included when you bought Alicia's? 😊

Lousy comparison. No reverb on Grandeur. Unfair...

if you people want a very realistic piano vst go head try imperfect samples.

its also not kinda fair as the alicia's Keys has reverb on the first song and the other almost doesnt, giving it a more dry feel even tho this doesnt have to be the case

Jun says he used the standard settings for both.

Somewhere in the octave above middle C, Grandeur doesn't sound as realistic as Alicia's Keys. It sounds brighter, but less like a real piano. You really notice it in Summer, when the right hand comes in with the melody.

alicia keys en definitiva mas poderoso tal ves sea por que tiene mas sustain que graundeur tendria que ver los parametros de equalizacion

Here's the veridic after more then three years ... If the arrangement is solo piano or with a lead vocal, I would choose "The Grandeur" over Alicia's Keys... But in the majority of arrangements with more instruments, including a pop, ballad, jazz, etc song, it "mix" or "Glue" better the piano by "Alicia's Keys" even do you can use "The Grandeur" and cut the lower frequencies to avoid fighting with the bass (Especially if is a synth bass).

I think Alicia Keys and I don’t even like Alicia Keys all that much so the Grandeur must be pretty bad I reckon There are far better virtual pianos

Thank you! As for Alicia's Keys, it was good for simple pieces like River Flows in You, but as I play more dynamic pieces with more low keys, I'm more fan of The Grandeur now.

May I suggest either Valhalla or OrilRiver reverb on it and see what you think. Both are free plugins. The OrilRiver makes it sound like magic even on my old midi keyboard.

I played real and electronic acousitc piano. Alicia sounds just like the real acoustic piano but sorry the grandeur sounds a bit too processed. Alicia.
