Ive been putting it off for yrs, but Ive been wanting to wear corded/comfy corsets instead of bras (Im an Ecup & the straps DIG) & this... this gives me confidence to make it simply. This way it can also be reversible... the real question, is if I floss the bunnings boning, would it be machine washable? 🤔

That sound like a fantastic idea! I think it would be better to handwash it still. Who knows what the washing machine could do to the boning

Hey, this was nice to watch. I’m going to sew my stitches around the seams just like you did. I printed out the ‘Sylvia’ corset & I had a bit of trouble figuring out the right cup measurements for my size. I chose bust B0: size E (80cm). I’m 85cm but the directions instructed me to subtract 5cm. I’m rather scared to cut the patterns because it said to subtract my under bust measurements from my bust, mine would be 77-85cm. B0 was 7cm while B1 was 9.5. I seriously hope I do not mess this up 😩 I also don’t have waist tape. Is that a big deal? I’m just starting out sewing so I have limited materials

I know you've said in a previous comment that you don't make split-front busk corsets and this one is no different, but to adapt a pattern like this one do you add any extra allowance at the front where the busk should go before sewing it closed, or do you leave the pattern as-is and have a larger gap in the back? Thank you, this is GORGEOUS.

Thanks! I literally just align the centre front along the fold of my fabric and that's it! Nothing special!

Guys the website is gone. Would you all mind sharing the pdfs? I just discovered this channel today and I cannot take any of the patterns from the original source she mentioned anymore :(
The backlace holes on Aranea’s pattern look closer to each other, while yours looks spacious. Did you make changes? If so, about how much spacing did you make?
@estelledesigns9 ай бұрын
I made them a bit more spaced out so I wouldn't have to do as much work! The tighter you space them, the more lacing you will need to use but it also means you can get the corset to fit very tightly. I usually space mine around 1-1.5 inches apart. Hope this helps!

Yes, I did change placement of the boning slightly at the bust. I tapered them so they form a v shape around the bust rather than straight up and down

does it need to be 2-layered? is it then better at making the waist smaller or the oppsoite? I'd appreciate if you took the time to explain :)
@estelledesigns Жыл бұрын
Hi! I prefer having 2 layers as it provides more structure than just one layer of fabric. I've tried one layer before and it is definitely more flimsy. Also with 1 layer of fabric, you need to sew boning channels using another method (i.e. cotton tape or ribbon strips). In my opinion, it is less effort doing a 2 layer corset because you can sandwich the boning in between the 2 layers. Hope this helps!

This is so beautiful! Did you use a busk at the front or did you sew it shut? I can't tell and am wanting to re-create a corset myself! Is there a pro or minus to using a busk?
@estelledesigns4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ally! I've actually never sewn a corset before with a split front busk... that's what I'd love to try for my next corset haha! The disadvantages to having no split busk is that you need a lot more lacing in the back in order to get it over your head and shoulders. It's also difficult to get the corset over you head without ruining any hair or makeup you did, so that's a downside too. The upsides is that you will have a smoother front that is undetectable under dresses, and that it's cheaper to make because you don't need to buy any special corset supplies (you could just use cable ties like I did!) Hope this helps :)

Hi I’m using an aranea black pattern to make a corset as well but I wanted to ask how you made the opposite side of the corset???? The pattern only covers half the body (the left side of my body). I’m working on my mock-up now
@estelledesigns5 ай бұрын
Hello! You have to flip the pattern and use the flipped version to cut out the other side.
@MD-ww1wz5 ай бұрын
Does anyone have the pdf pattern? Website has gone down :(
I really want to make the corset too. I have downloaded the pattern, measured everything, but then, after I finished the mockup, it was wayyyyyy too big. Did this happen to anyone else? And because of the sharp edges from the cable ties, I usually melt it a bit with a candle, so it won't be sharp. And another question (I'm annoying, sorry), how many cm/inch can you cinch your waist with this?
@estelledesigns4 жыл бұрын
Perhaps you accidentally included more seam allowance than necessary? That's a good idea with the cable ties! As for your question, I can usually get my waist down to a 25 inch with this corset.

Not hating, but I hope you do something about the "laziness" that you always mention here. Coz you could have made a next level quality if you are not lazy. The corset is great, didn't say that it's ugly or something but it's just a shame that you did not go all out because of the laziness.
@estelledesigns5 ай бұрын
I won't deny that I am pretty lazy when it comes to certain projects, especially if they are hidden under other garments. While I admire those who do go "all out" on making beautiful corsets with satin, lace, trims and the like, my priorities for undergarments generally is more focused on durability and functionality!
