It's lovely seeing some of the gifts from the Costume Secret Sanda showing up in use on videos. You make it seem so simple. Follow the steps and (after putting in much time) voila a corset. It's brilliant and makes me believe that I can do it. Thank you for sharing. Have a lovely day.

@@estelledesigns Your skills are always improving. And what you do know is far above what the average person knows at this point. And you have to have skills to complete some of the projects you have done thus far. Us artists are often our own biggest critics. I find fault in every project I create, no matter how lovely others find them. But the trick is to also find things you love about your projects, no matter how much you want to do different the next time you create something.

Here's a tip for apartment dwellers, use a rubber mallet and not a hammer. It's quieter for one (less chance of neighbors complaining), and if you miss and hit your hand it doesn't hurt as much. If you also don't have a place to do the hammering; put down a few layers of towels and get a small block of wood (really cheap at hardware stores, might even be free) and hammer on the wood on top of the towels to dampen the noise and protect your surfaces. Or you buy a grommet setter that all you do is pull down a handle and it put the grommet in place for you. :) Though they can be expensive but if you're doing a lot of them it would be a worthy expense.

Hi great vid. Thanks for sharing. Some people use calico fabric for the lining, what is the difference between Calico and Broadcloth fabric?
@estelledesigns
@estelledesigns Жыл бұрын
Thank you! In my experience calico is a tighter weave and a lot stronger, therefore good for structured garments like corsets. Broadcloth is still relatively strong but better for dresses, pants, etc.

@@estelledesigns okay! That makes complete sense, and totally understandable reasons!! I'm in school for corsetry, and my teacher HATES plastic,,went on a rant about it too lol. She considers plastic corsets to solely be fashion corsets, mainly bc they just do not last as long as steel bones do. Thank you for the quick reply!
@estelledesigns
@estelledesigns 4 жыл бұрын
@@fuyukazemi Well perhaps she was referring to rigiline (or however it's spelt!) which is what is often used in modern fashion dresses - it's a lot flimsier than cable ties and can actually be sewn into. Cable ties I would say I more similar to synthetic whale/plastic boning which is what people use for historical corset reproductions
