I never imagined they would address Allan sucking on Charlie’s nose because I just viewed it as a one-off gag. It’s so funny that they did though because sometimes people don’t realize they made someone uncomfortable and the other person could act like it was no big deal.

They probably planned it out. Because if you go back to the scene and check, after Alan nips his nose, Charlie kinda shoves him away so fast that you could potentially miss it if you blink. Then when Alan noms again, he sort of pulls back away from him to make sure his nose isn't bitten again.

i am fairly certain they made the choice to address that after. like at first, they just had it be a weird type of affection, then for season two they realized they could make a joke of it. i actually find the fact they do this annoying, they have done this with other jokes too.

What I love about this episode is that Spamtopia feels like such an homage to early-2000s amateur flash animations. You know, like from the more demented side of sites like Newgrounds back in the day. The poorly drawn characters with spastic movements, the heavy use of Microsoft Sam-style text-to-speech voices, the liberal use of color gradients, the very bit-crushed sound effects, etc. God, I miss that era of the internet...

I feel the same way. The internet was certainly a different beast back in the day. Especially with how advertising was done, and flash was the biggest program to use for indie animations/games. I even miss a lot of the old flash games that companies would make to advertise either a product or show.

As a correction, this has nothing to do with the Mandela Catalog. The voice they're using is the old text to speech "Microsoft Sam" voice that used to be used in nearly every crappy KZbin video and other videos- as well as Moonbase Alpha- in the early-mid 2000s. It was included with Windows XP afaik.

In terms of the Mandela Catalog controversy, from what I gathered this individual named Ven started accusing a bunch of stuff. Cast on the show took his side and started making tweets and stuff. Then it was found out that Ven was up to some shady ish in the documents. He apologized for his remarks toward Alex (MC guy) and for their "false allegations", all the cast members who tweeted that they took Ven's side deleted their posts, and it essentially ended there. Don't know the finer details just that this was the summery I found.

6:45 in fact, as far as I know, the new recommendations for CPR are to only do the chest compressions to keep the blood flowing, and do not bother with the breathing techniques. Between 100 and 120 compressions per minute, so about 2 compressions a second. There are plenty of songs which rhythm you can follow, Macarena being one of them.

If you want the context on the creator of Mandela Catalogue, there’s a neat video called The Plot Against Alex Kister, where the long and the short of it is basically an ex-girlfriend wanted to ruin Alex’s life because they had a bad relationship when they were young and dumb (Alex actually being the younger one in the situation) and it’s all kinds of fucked up for Alex, since he was relatively innocent in the grand scheme. Aka, he was in the wrong as far as a socially inept and dumb teenager can be in their very first ever relationship.

He was associated with the group when it was just anti-government with people from different areas of thr politcal spectrum being apart of it. When it started heading towards an alt-right direction, that's when he left. He left literally because of that reason. So "guilt by association" doesn't even really apply in this case and arguing "guilt by association" in the first place is already rocky itself.

Can't really blame her though. Smiling Friends is packed with so many obscure references to early internet subculture. It's pretty hard to distinguish what's a reference and just an in-universe gag. Something well known to many, can be totally unknown to others. The Dough Walker/Nostalgia Critic cameo for example. And honestly, it's part of the shows charm. It's a lot like Venture bros. and Archer referencing obscure real world pop-culture and history. But instead, Smiling Friends references the internet.
