Having read about Demon in a Bottle and seen some panels... yeah. Doing that would not have flown, and would likely have sunk the MCU. It's not really a superhero story for the most part, being a dark character piece about a very ugly place in life. It's the rock bottom that kept Tony sober for DECADES out of universe. It's why him falling off the wagon, or getting whammied with the equivalent effects is a big deal in the comics. Because we've seen where that can lead, and NOBODY wants to go there.

This film's villain is a rather unique case. It's played by Mickey Rourke and it's apparently a combination of 2 preexisting Marvel villains called "Crimson Dynamo" and "Whiplash" (Imagine that). Though in the film's canon I believe he is just Whiplash. Fun fact (this one's insane): Mickey Rourke not only starred on other films like sin city and "The Wrestler" before Iron Man 2 but was also a boxer no losses on his record and, get this, provided a mid-song rap in a goddamn David Bowie song! Saddest part is that prior to watching this film when I was young I'd never even heard of the guy
@sebastianemond5313Ай бұрын
@geistking There were only a couple of movies I was aware of Mickey Rourke before Sin City. One was Angel Heart, where he played a noir private eye detective in a supernatural psychological mystery. There's one I still need to watch called Harley Davidson and the Marlborough Man, where he starred alongside Don Johnson, where the two are bikers in a modern western story. There was also that hilariously silly spy movie where he played the bad guy against the team up of JCVD and Dennis Rodman, Double Team.

The mark 5 here (the portable armor he uses in the first fight) is a very LIGHT armor made to be a suit Tony can use as a last resort if he’s in trouble. It does not have many of the other capabilities of previous armors including many of the weapons and I do not think it can even fly. It’s a very bare bones suit, so all Tony could really do in that fight is use repulses ands that’s really it.

The reason why it's Don chedle playing rhodie, is because of the original actor, Terrance Howard, having a disagreement with the studio trying to violate contract and pay him less. When the first Ironman movie was in production, Terrance Howard had to fight to get Robert Downey Jr to be ironman, he took a pay cut (even though under contract for a fixed amount) for them to allow RDJ to play ironman. In this film, the studio knew RDJ was a hit as ironman, so when they were to try and pay him more, they tried to pay Terrance Howard less again, violating the contract, and Terrance Howard refused to play the role until he was paid for his contract...... Then Don chedle was brought in an well.... Here's how it came out.

I have a copy of the novelization of this movie. I got it before watching any of the MCU movies. What I expected Justin Hammer to look like when I read the novel turned out to be remarkably similar to what Obediah Stane (from the first Iron Man film) looks like.
@roystoyscomics1361Ай бұрын
It was a money issue. Terence was told he would be paid a higher salary than they cut his salary way down so he refused to reprise the part. And Don Cheadle got the part instead. Comedian Gary Shandling plays Senator Stern. Back in the 70's - 80's comics Tony's Iron Man suit fit into a briefcase he kept near him at all times. The actual suit design in this movie is reminiscent of the Scarlet Centurion armor which was one of the more popular versions of Tony's Iron Man armors. 😂 Randy's Donuts is a real franchise. Sadly that location I believe has been shut down. In the MMORPG game City of Heroes one of the zones in one of the restricted areas had a Drenched Donuts which sported a large pink donut on its roof for heroes to fly through and get an exploration badge if they landed inside the donut. 😂 Black Widow is an Olympic level athlete so she is un-enhanced. That said she is highly skilled in hand to hand combat and carries a variety of tech gadgets on her to help take down her foes. Such as the stun discs, her Widows Bite which are the bracelets on her wrists which are basically industrial grade tazers that shoot out electrical blasts. She also knows a lot about human psychology which she uses to great effect. She is trained in a variety of weapons including pistols and using nunchuks or a bo staff. 😂 The Ant-Man Thanos was a meme only. But The Boyz show actually did it on their show. 😮

Terrance Howard the original Rhodes actor refused to take a pay cut for the sequel even though everyone else did so his role was recast. It's funny because I worked with his brother whose a cool dude but clearly doesn't have a strong attachment to him. Also this movie gets a lot of flak because it's considered poor especially because of Tony's behavior during the film. But most people don't realize that he's dying & he knows it. He either dies a terribly slow death via his own cure by palladium poisoning or he ends his life faster by removing it only for the shrapnel in his chest to kill him. My only real complaint in this film is we didn't get more Ivan Vanko & the final battle felt short.

5:00 "Castle Doctrine" and "Stand Your Ground Law" are the most common laws protecting one from suit in the case of Self-Defense. With Castle Doctrine specifically for defending a location you are legally inhabiting like your home or vehicle. They vary on a State by State basis and will sometimes have conditions regarding "Reasonable Force", assuming they don't have a "Duty to Retreat" law in place which basically says that Self-Defense is not a sufficient defense if they think you had ample opportunity to escape.
