Just so you’re aware when they’re “flying”, it’s actually meant to be them jumping with their stands and pushing off of buildings, but since the anime naturally takes longer for dialogue, it causes them to appear to suddenly be able to fly.

@@joelsasmad those rules are still too vague during part 3, there are many contradictions and things that make no sense, they just work, a great example is the first chapter, when Star Platinum brings Jotaro many things, being Star Platinum a power stand with only a 5 meter range it's impossible for it to literally grab toys, videogames, drinks, etc. into Jotaro's cell, even if it had the power to stop time at that point in the story. So yeah, there are things, specially in the first three parts, that have no explanation and they really don't need it, Araki was just doing his thing and we enjoy it.

Of note is that Dio has severe PTSD from fighting Jonathan. The original JoJo humbled him so much that he began to revere the Joestars as the only ones capable of challenging him and fears them for it. This is why Dio seems so flusttered and out of his practiced persona when Jotaro began to stump him. In a way Jonathan is protecting his descendants from the beyond.

I don't know if anyone explained yet, but basically the "Same type of Stand" thing happens because when DIO awakens his Stands, the Joestars get theirs at the same time, and are identical. DIO had Joseph's Hermit Purple because of Jonathan's body, allowing him to know exactly where the Crusaders were going the whole time, while The World's awakening is mirrored in Star Platinum's awakening, hence them being identical in powers.

Unlikely to be honest. Dio's had The World for much longer than Jotaro has SP. Jonathan and Joseph's stand (supplementary material confirms that Dio's second stand is actually Jonathan's) are similar because they're both stand versions of their users Hamon. Hence why people like Tonpetti and Lisa Lisa could see the future and read minds respectively and Joseph has even confirmed that HP has mindreading.

@3_Made Parana Adi Swara Jonathan's Stand is considered a separate stand in like the guides and stuff but it never got a name. It's what Dio used to read people's desires and stuff and I'm pretty sure HP can't do that. The closest it gets is reading people's minds.

Man the shot in the OP where they essentially spoil the part 3 deaths has always been such a nice little secret to me, props for noticing you two. The Polnareff/Iggy/Avdol one is the most impressive one to me, cuz it works on so many levels. You can see Avdol with his hand stretched out, pushing Iggy and Polnareff out of the way. Then you can see Iggy on one of the lighter red lines, which are supposed to be the tracks Vanilla Ice made while closing in on the hurt Polnareff in a spiralling motion. Iggy ofc. saved him and died in while laying in one of these tracks. And finally, because the animators play with perspective even further, the lines also make it look like Polnareff is ascending stairs (the DIO encounter). Immaculate shot composition.

This exactly why he couldn't do the same thing with cards themselves, because D'Arby was concentrated on them and would've noticed even the fastest movement. Also this is why he definitely didn't use time stop back there, because with a time stop he would had an ability to move cards without D'Arby noticing

I also think that D'Arby was foreshadowing for Jotaro stopping time. But in a different way. Both D'Arby brothers could steal a person's soul by beating them in a game. So, that basically established that two family members can have similar abilities. That's how I see it, anyway. I've never seen anyone share this opinion.

So, remember back in the Darby episode they were asking Darby to tell them the secret of Dio's stand? And his reaction confirmed that he knew what it was? So, Darby KNEW The World stopped time. Then Jotaro started using his stand to bluff and make him think it was fast enough to switch the cards? In retrospect, the reason that bluff worked so well is because Darby MUST have suspected that Star Platinum might also stop time, which would have made switching the cards totally possible. So Jotaro's bluff was even better than he realized at the time.

Fun fact: the amount of energy involved increases proportionally to how fast an object is moving, plus the closer you get to the speed of light the slower everything will appear as everything, including time itself, is relative. Thus, it's theoretically possible to stop time by moving at the speed of light but it would require a literally infinite amount of energy.

@@bruhmoment3478 commentator before us is wrong on many levels, moving faster than light is impossible in normal relativistic physics and the fact that we get negative time movement if we are using relativistic formulas does not proves that this is what happens in real live. What our mathematical model of time says have no value until we can fact check it, and if we are right, then this model helped us figure this out and is correct, if not, then we just need to make more precise model instead. So until we can detect negative time movement in real life it will stay as weird outcome of our movement model being used outside its stated limitations. Its like saying that if we will move with complex speed we can enter imaginary dimension. Our movement model will show you this result if you plunge complex numbers in it, but it wouldn't make it right. Also lol, by moving at speed of light you will stop yourself in time, not time of everyone else in the universe. Yes, moving faster = experiencing time moving faster around yourself, you heard me right. This is actually one of the reasons why reaching speed of light in impossible in relativistic physics btw ◾◾◾ANTI-SPOILER BLOCK◾◾◾ Also Pucci never moved at speed of light or faster, for a simple reason that for him to move faster he needed to accelerate time in whole universe, so speed of light would also be increased. A theory I heard going around is that Jotaro could always stop time, but it was just "for a smaller period of time" than DIO, and that is why Star Platinum has been stated to be so fast. Supposedly when Araki first thought up The World's power, it was originally going to have all the powers of the Tarot Stands (Strength, Emperor, Hermit Purple, Star Platinum, The Devil, Death 13, etc). It's why we see DIO using Hermit Purple to spy on the Crusaders using the exact same method Joseph used. But after a while, Araki realized that even with Jotaro's Star Platinum having the power to stop time, The World would be too OP. So The World's was nerfed to being only time stop.

Fun fact Star Platinum being able to stop time was actually foreshadowed in jotaro’s fight with N’doul in the desert when the two stands raced to get a hit in on the users there’s a distortion that happens just before Star platinum hits N’doul that’s very reminiscent of the time stop ability just to give Star Platinum the edge. It just happens so fast that jotaro doesn’t notice it.

A head canon is mine is that throughout part 3 jotaro was using time stop subconsciously like with the bullet and when jotaro caught lovers before it entered his ear, his stand activates it on its own and then he just thinks it's speed since it's only for a split second, it's only when he fights dio that he can extend his time stop to 2 seconds
