The fact that this footage by itself is unnerving is a testament to the actor, the movement classes that he took, the cinematography and the production design.

Aliens was great but this was something the later films lacked. They made the alien fast, cunning and agile in basically every other film, and we never saw it again behaving this way, a sort of slow-moving, unsettling creepiness as opposed to vicious, in-your-face kind of scariness.
@as52343 Жыл бұрын
Yes i totally agree! The alien from the first film seems almost like a different creature. It was more slow moving, more cunning and cruel, and had a different posture aswell. It was the scariest the alien will ever be. Its much more frightening seeing this alien slowly moving towards you on two legs, other than the xenomoprhs from Aliens crawling fast and agile towards you.
@katiedid27 Жыл бұрын
Two very good reasons for this. 1) Alien was a different genre from later films, leaning into sci-fi horror instead of sci-fi action. Slower movements help build the suspense needed for the horror genre. 2) In universe, the aliens are social creatures that usually grow up with lots of other aliens around them. This one was born isolated, therefore his behavior was different than if he'd grown up with other aliens. He can most easily be described as being autistic. He's just a bit different.

One of the reasons I like the original Big Chap design so much: it truly resembles an unholy mix of human and the creepiest alien creature out there.

@katiedid27 This xenomorph is autistic? That is the weirdest fucking analogy I've ever heard LMAO.
@dannyboi58873 ай бұрын
I disagree, Alien Isolation is proof you can absolutely have fast Xenos and still have them be just as terrifying as Big Chap was. The actual issue is that almost all Alien media after the first movie has them crawling around on all fours most of the time instead of upright on two legs which makes them look more animistic and less scary as a result since they no longer have the "uncanny valley" aspect the original had.
@esh33252 ай бұрын
Walking so slowly and so normal is even more unsettling and creepy than the fast movements of the aliens of later movies. Imagine big chap walking toward you like a human being in slow pace like this.

This is amazing, but I think it was a wise idea of Ridley Scott to show very little actual footage of the Xenomorph in the finished movie. This is still just a "guy in a rubber suit" as they used to joke on the set.

My idea for an Alien5 movie is as follows: It takes place after alien4 and takes places on an earth in ruins. TheRipleyClone has transformed into an entity that is producing eggs,and a lot of humans are affected,and a war breaks out.They have to use a nuke on the swarms of xenomorphs and decidedes to travel to the planet where they think the xenomorphs orginate from.There they find there are multiple forms of xenomorphs.They manages to form a clone of a xenomorph that is able to communicate with the the help of a microship surgerized into its brain. After this a peace is established. But as allways Weyland-Yutani has spies that want the xenomorph for their biological weapon program. And it is a surprice who the spy is. And that Weyland-Yutami has a lab on a spacestation not far from the xenomorph planet. Where they finds forms of xenomorphs that noone has seen before. And that's makes a cliffhanger for a possible Alien6 movie ?
