Oh i felt sorry for the creature ...But yes you are not alone.

No, you're not the only one who loves the Newborn, there are many fans of it! Rejoice because NECA toys received many fan requests and for their Alien Series 12 they're releasing a wave of 7" action figures of Alien: Resurrection that'll be comprised of 3 fully articulated figures based on the film: Ripley-8, Alien Warrior, Newborn! They'll show images of the whole series before July 2017!

The newborn is a terrific design. it's a toddler but very f*** dangerous I like it's expressions from childlike to dam right killer-mode. it has these expressions that one minute it's helpless looking for mummy... then this very calculated killer.

While I wasn't the biggest fan of the film, the one thing I WAS a fan of was the creautre design, especially for the newborn. I loved seeing the fusion of xenomorph with human, and I remember the way it moved made me think "it looks painful to even BE that thing". It's great to see the design and technical process behind the creature.

So many complaints.. remember the artists create what they are hired to, they didn't write the script. It's an amazing monster.. such fabulous movement. It was horrifying, yet you felt sorry for it. Very unique as well. I certainly had never seen anything like it before. As for all the discussion about what the xenos should be/look like/do.. everything gets thrown out the window when you add in genetic mutation. It's quite believable for what happens when you take a lot of human, a little xeno, and mess with who knows how many genes along the way.

Personally I love the Newborn design for the reasons stated above. Truth be told, its menacing expressions were more terrifying to look at than any of the aliens and its expressions were out of this world. The newborn had all the elements it needed to. In its case a Giger concept of no eyes and no expressions wouldnt fit at all. Although probably biomechanoid characteristics might have still worked while retaining expressions and the eyes. The movie should have been faithful to Giger's original vision though when it came to the rest of the Aliens. The Aliens became more organic and I dont understand why they tried to make the Alien Queen express emotions in some way. I am talking about the scene where the Newborn was born and she was "facing" it and making some noises of love and tenderness. The Alien Queen should have instead maintained a cold look and should have made a hissing sound as to convey the impression that its labor is a part of infecting, infesting and conquering territories. I understand that they probably wanted to give a different take to the Alien Queen since she could give birth like a mammal and hence express mammalian connection with its children. But in the Alien universe this doesnt fit. Its ability to give birth directly should have been communicated as an additional menacing ability of the new type of Aliens
@dradra2day9 жыл бұрын

Original concept designs for the Newborn gave the creature genitalia, a mix of both sexes. However, Fox was uncomfortable and Jeunet felt "even for a Frenchman, it's too much." The genitalia were digitally removed in post-production.

@SolarTara7 жыл бұрын
you guys do realize the people that do cgi for moves have train for years to have the technical know how to create the digital creatures, countless hours go into computer sculpting, animating, rigging and other things to make them look and feel real! it's not like the computer does all the work for you... people still spend hours even months on the effects and I think its all choice of what median fits the given circumstance better.... both "practical" effects and CGI take a whole LOT of time and effort to create, and you get both bad and good outcomes... it's the memory you have of it that is giving the illusion it is better. wait 15 more years, and people will look back at movies like the new tron movie, or transformers, or basically any modern film, and say that it was so much better back then. Please.. understand people put work into both...
@internationalartprojects86607 жыл бұрын
A good blend of CGI and practical effects always works. Digital artists have a lot more skill then they had 15 years ago. Terminator 2 is a good example some of the best effects in the movie were practical complimented with CGI and Cameron still used rear projection in a lot of scenes.

Can't say I'm a big fan of aliens, and I'm sure there some very enthusiastic people who have complaints against some of the stories. And I get that feeling, it's how I felt about the live acation transformers films. But alas, we can all agree that the artists who dedicate their time to create these awesome models of creatures, truly are what make hose movies worth it. The newborn is an alien that will always stick out to me, regardless if it makes sense. Just the misery surrounding it's life, combined with such a bizarre agonising death for such a bizarre life form , makes this the most tragic but horrifying creature I've ever seen so far.
