Why oh why is there a compulsion to repeat details over and over. Yeah, we heard the words the first time. "Stand against any enemy that faces us".....sure, that's why they ran from the other ship, apparently forgetting they had weapons. The story heads rapidly into the realm of bad writing, never quite recovering.

Massive writing/editing fails, outrunning enemy ship that is just suddenly there, it fires a missile that is faster than energy blasts so an FTL missile? missile is following the ship they turn on shields and make a sharp turn before asteroid and ENEMY ship explodes.
