Probably the most ‘wordy’ film I’ve seen in a long time. Loads of script covering thin plot line but credit to the actors for almost remembering all of it! Love how she killed an alien by spraying it with bug off or something similar in a squeeze bottle!

Another of those US TV movies. Technically well done, that's camera, sound, music. Actors do a good job. The let-down of this is the non-existing story. They just line up stereotypes we have all seen in other movies before. They even stole the story from War of the Worlds, just moving it to US suburbia. So much misinformation about hemoglobin in this movie... hemoglobin is responsible for the transport of oxygen from the lungs to the organs. You missed on how her cut on the forehead changed size in each new scene. Another thing was how the EMP wiped out crude circuitry like light switches even when the circuit is open but didn't effect computers or electronic ignitions in vehicles. In fact of matter an EMP works exactly the opposite. It's one of the reasons that for years military vehicles with gasoline powered engines still used points for ignition even though electronic ignitions were available for years. This whole movie is nothing more than a cheap version of the original movie "War between the worlds". The idea of multiple threes, three legs, three eyes, three fingers, when it came to the Martians and their lack of an immune system to protect them from the simplest of organisms is a direct concept taken straight from the book and the preceding movies.
@stevenward38562 ай бұрын
@@scootertramp4355 The Original story, written by H. G. Wells, was "War of the Worlds" . This book was written at the turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries. That story went on for years instead of hours (two days, tops). I guess if you take out the depravity mankind is capable of, it will turn it into a short-story. The Martian-slaying "bug" was the common cold instead of strep which Martians caught after enslaving the "Earthlings". I still prefer the movie made (I think) in the early sixties. The FX of the time were rather good, actually. It didn't, however, have as much details of the original story, with only one direct "encounter of the third kind" that exposed only one Martian., or at least it appeared that way. The "threes" theme was also shown in the cluster of three eyes in the center of the Martians' head.

So much dialog...talking, talking, talking. It feels like the writers felt the need to explain every detail to viewers using as many words as possible. I love how Dr. Ally is the world's authority on Mars...she even said so. "I'm the person NASA calls when they have questions about Mars!" Now, really? I mean, REALLY? She doesn't look like she's 30 yrs old. And hasn't NASA had a dozen & a half satellites in Mars' orbit for 40+ yrs, plus 5 or 6 rovers? And poor Tom Sizemore, he was so pale, w/ dark circles under his eyes and sweating in almost every scene. That's from a hard life of drinking & drugs, the poor guy. He must have been 60 yrs old, but looking like he was in his 70's. His liver must have been failing. He really gave it all his effort when he and his aid went after all those aliens with machine guns near the end. And finally, I'd like to suggest the make-up artists make a decision about Dr. Ally's cut on her forehead, and stick to it in make-up dept. It morphed into an image of the state of FLA made out of ketchup...it must have changed shapes, color & texture about 10 times by the end. Wrap some gauze around it and be done with it!

So much scientifically wrong in this movie. Clostridium perfringens was misspelled "perfrigens", and there is not 1/2 Earth's level of oxygen on Mars (there is less than 1% of AIR on Mars compared to Earth, and of that one percent, carbon dioxide makes up about 96% of it on Mars. Using biologics to eat up nitrogen and igniting the oxygen left in the atmosphere to boil off the H2O molecules in the oceans into space wouldn't work because Earth's gravity is too strong to allow a heavy molecule like H2O to escape. Oxygen on Mars is only 0.13% of a 1% atmosphere compared to 21% oxygen in Earth's atmosphere which is already 99 times more dense than that of Mars. That is to say, even if these aliens were made of pure hemoglobin they wouldn't be able to survive if their systems depend on O2. So, they must be CO2 consumers, not O2 burners. Clostridium perfringens, however, is an anaerobe and cannot live in oxygen, but thrives on CO2! Perfect for Mars. And none of these efforts would have the effect on Earth's mass the "Doctor" claims. For starters, Earth is 9.3 times as massive as Mars. Earth's oceans only account for 0.02% of her total mass! Earth's mass-o-meter would hardly notice if they disappeared altogether. After cringing over 10 or so of these scientific blunders, I left off taking notes on them and just watched the movie! [:>) It was really kinda fun to watch, after I turned off my blunderometer and critical thinking.

I believe England dropped the first atomic bomb on Japanese and ended the Second World War , maybe I may have to do more study on the subject. How ever there was an Orson Welles that wrote a modernised version of War Of The Worlds as a radio play back in the late 1930s . He did a lot of excellent works for the Mercury Theatre from the mid 1930s and one of his plays was done as a News Report that caused a panic as people actually believed it was true . That play was called The War Of The Worlds.

You may be confusing "Orson Welles", the brilliant American writer, director, and actor who directed and narrated the 1938 radio play version of "War of the Worlds" with the brilliant English writer Herbert George "H. G." Wells, who wrote the 1897 novel "The War of the Worlds" that served as the basis for Orson Welles' broadcast, as wells as some fifteen movie and television adaptations.

To bad MST3K isn't around, the dialog would have been extra funny. Maybe Rifftrax can do it.

Why didn't they think to send out the findings to the rest of humanity? (Sighing here)
