It'd be something more like a plastic fireplug at the center of a grate leading to the ship's liquid recycling systems. As for #2, that is probably a trapdoor leading to an incinerating toilet, similar to those once popular on obsolete railroad cars.

Doggos are fierce, but Pound for Pound, Domestic Cats are the most ravenous pets. And then there are Weasels and Otters. Ferrets are so arrogant, they are not afraid of Humans, Neither are Otters, in fact they are often so freindly it seems scary to humans, Wolverines are a Good example of The weasels not giving a damb about Humans or bears or cougars or wolves. I think Wolverines actually trust Humans, Badgers are another misunderstood weasel critter. Anyway thats a long post

Stories evolve and grow. They often are not atrophied in stone. Valid critical commdnts can be heeded by thrir authors. Defects, weaknesses and inconsistencies ard found and ameliorate and it all gets better. Maybe this will happen here,

The story is pretty good. There does seems to be some areas that I don't understand. Like how the mercenaries have repeatedly been able to attack them without any challenge from security. Or when Alara goes to talk to her contact. She forgets about the human who is fighting for his life. You would think that she would be asking him to help with that to. Also, the video does not fit the description of the characters in your story.

One wonders where the police or internal security people were or why any internal security systems were not picking up and gunfire (I would think that a blaster has a very identifiable energy signature. there is shooting over maybe half of the station and no one is reporting anything. Finally, every embassy has security or defense people, where are they. And where the customs or base entry personnel, there should have been someone somewhere to meet the ship or to be passed to get into the main part of the base.

Decent tale of a Woman, a Man, and a K9 who wags a tail ! But, why does the image on this post show a BLONDE ALIEN WOMAN but at 2:40 in the story her hair is said to be black or is it dark ? Tale is a bit simplistic. Suggestion, Deverik is the mastermind behind the potential war. Before the mercs blast in, MAX senses Deverik's treachery. As Deverik raises his weapon on Alara, MAX leaps and catches Deverik's weapon arm in his bone breaking jaw. But, Deverik twists his broken arm firing at MAX near fatally wounding the K9 Protector. Eric bursts through the mercs from behind taking down two. Deverik lines up a shot at Eric only to have Alara and the critically wounded MAX knock Deverik down. Eric and Alara who is wirlding Deverik's dropped blaster take down two more mercs. Deverik pulls out an energy blade quivkly slitting the throats of the last two remaining mercs. Alara's data diwnload was not to the Council's data base, but to a data encryption algorithm where it is scrambled therefore useless. The last thing MAX, ALARA, and ERIC hear is a maniacal wicked laugh coming from Deverik as he disappears into the station is, "THIS IS NOT OVER, JUST BEGINNING, I WILL KILL ALL THREE OF YOU YET !". Eric calls for assistance from an ex-military vet to help MAX. And afterall, ERIC and MAX are both retired military covert ops agents. ERIC asks, "ALARA, PLEASE STICK AROUND A WHILE; AT LEAST UNTIL MAX IS BACK ON ALL FOURS AGAIN". Her smile says "YES". Meanwhile DEVERIK and his agents are watching from the sidelines. Watching and Waiting. .. .. ..

Seemed like an OK story up to the point where I stopped watching because of 2 glaring plot holes. 1. If the mercenaries disabled her engines how did she get away? 2. Why was there no station security?
