This was an extremely stressful experience but I'm so glad I did it. If you're too scared to play the game yourself but love the Alien universe, you can watch this video between the 2 first movies now! EDIT (100.000 views update celebration): It is insane to me that this video reached popular levels of exposure. I initially started the deathless games series as a personal free archive of some sorts, to watch some games I enjoy in a more cinematic fashion for times when I would be too tired to play or maybe when I'll be very old (hopefully I'll still be able to play games though!), there was absolutely no popularity ambition. One of the reasons I wanted to do that believe it or not was accessibility, I think video games are the greatest art form in existence, but not everyone has the possibility or will to invest time and money to just play games, however a KZbin video doesn't require a lot of investment, so it was a great way to share the games I love with everyone, to break that wall of inaccessibility for many, and maybe give them the will to try to play those games as well :) Anyways, I'd like to thank everyone so much for giving their time to watch this challenge. I love Aliens but my canon is that only Alien and Isolation exist. At the end of Alien it was ambiguous whether Ripley even killed the xenomorph by the end. In Aliens, the fact that Xenomorphs can be killed so easily and that their whole deal was an earth Ant Hive with a queen kinda took away the whole mystery of something actually Alien that we can’t understand and the claim of a “perfect organism”.

@@sbraypaynt I get that. Sci/fi - horror - is what Aliens should be. But, I truly do enjoy the second installment as well, making it more of a sci/fi horror/action movie. And, when you say so easily killed can be explained that it takes place like 57 years after original movie, where technology ( weapon wise ) is a lot more deadly ( with fire armor piercing rounds ) which would make the aliens easier to kill. I mean, even a shotgun in the mouth of an alien. But then, you see when they are escaping through the ventilation system, where Vasquez is injured and Gorman tries to rescue her. He fires with his sidearm, and you can see that those bullets did close to nothing. So yeah, they died easier in Aliens, mainly cause they were up against marines, unlike in Alien, where it was just a industrial crew of a transport ship. But I reckon you knew this anyways.👍 I do hope that future installments, are much more like Alien 1979 is, just... freakin scary horror around the next corner. I have had a thought as of late, concerning another franchise I find just as terrifying or maybe even more. The Thing. In many ways, I could see these two concepts, even belonging in the same universe... cause in my eyes, The Thing ( parasite/virus ), could easily have been a creation of someone else, gone wrong. What do you think?

Never paid attention to the light around Amanda until I read the description in regards to it being completely removed to give the aspect of true darkness in the confined areas of the game and the hiding spaces around the game

Oy part way through the run, but really enjoy how you play. Immersed in the world, acting a bit like how Ripley would during certain encounters. Even years later, I'm still discovering new things about the game, like how you can shoot those red canisters, or Khulman's dialogue about not letting Ripley out once the alien appears outside Morley's office

OMG I just realised that Marlow and his crew brought the eggs to the station, when Dr Lingard's audio log at 2:48:11 refers to "who knows what else they let through" right after Marlow refuses to finish his story... I first played this back in 2015 and always thought that the whole nest thing was a bit of a plot hole lol. I mean there's even a facehugger on the Anesidora.. I'm having a moment rn

@@googlegoblin3482 If dark decent is any indication, there are factions that have access to containment vessels for the eggs. also it's possible that synths don't trigger the egg opening, so if you have one synth on your side, you can just do things the easy way and have them carry it... FAR away from your person..

Well, what can I say about this classic game of genre... is that I really enjoyed this style of game-play and was played through properly...and I mean in way it can be really appreicated "yeah I played through it a FEW times but lets give the audience what they came here to see" Its like a true movie where nothing has been skipped! and done on the hardest setting, true determination there in my eyes, good stuff! Can you imagine, I completed this run 3 days before the Ukraine war started, I felt very affected by this so I wouldn't have been able to continue the challenge honestly, without even knowing it I completed the challenge almost at the last possible time! (right now my anxiety levels since feb 24 are off the charts sadly, even though it's getting slightly better).

Nice routing into the vents in M4/16. I've encountered a nasty bug in them where the vent appears open from either inside or out sometimes both but will not allow entry nor exit. On the outside there was no prompt to enter from inside there was an invisible barrier.

Thanks! In retrospect, while the long path definitely needs to be opened early for M16 planning, the little one isn't that necessary. You probably also noticed that I didn't open the entry on smoke bomb V3 (just the exit), and there is a reason for that, some of my attempts died because there is a script here that almost 100% makes the alien comes to that vent if you decide to go there on your return, so I just ignored it and it served me right! As for glitches... Oh my god... At that time during M16 I had a glitch (not during this run) when I could simply not use my weapons anymore, the only way to fix it was to shake the wrench, it happened 3 times in the same section...

Honestly I'm not sure I would be able to expose myself to such a stressful situation again, 3 days before the Ukraine war started! It was a different time! Maybe since I already completed the challenge I wouldn't "care" that much again about success, reducing the pressure? Who knows!

my main issue with this game is that everything you do throughout the game is one failure after another after another, anything you do succeed at is immediately undone or made irrelevant, right up to the end of the game and even tho everything you do fails, somehow you are the only person that survives the whole ordeal

There's two points to that. One is to emphasize the horror that is the alien itself, inhuman, implacable, and nigh-invulnerable. The other is to highlight the even greater horror of Weyland-Yutani's extreme willingness to treat human life as expendable, all to try and harness what they see as the perfect living weapon despite it being beyond anyone's control. And like with the Necromorphs in the Dead Space games, the ultimate end of the Alien 'Verse might be that **SPOILER ALERT** the Xenomorphs represent the Fermi Paradox - the force that destroys any civilization that becomes too advanced, and also a theorized reason why humanity seems to be alone in the universe. They aren't my favorite themes, either, but damn if they aren't effective here.

@@robertban871 Quite possibly. Though, considering the struggle has continued for so long, I like to think there's hope. But one thing I forgot to include relates to the first point, that the alien brings so much death and inspires so much terror that it drives many people to revert back to their basic instincts. Like Axel says in the beginning, people are too caught up with surviving or living out their dark desires with impunity that it's only the most disciplined and moral who actually try to work together. Ultimately, we are our own worst enemies, with the Xenomorphs just being the icing on the cake. Though this isn't always the case in the Alien Verse, Isolation could also be seen as a commentary on that part of human nature as well. That, and again, how the dystopia Weyland-Yutani and Seegson has brought upon the human race has just drained the will to care from some people who otherwise could've been much more helpful - shit hit the fan long before the outbreak, so it's CYOA all the way. But, yeah, anything representing the Fermi Paradox is both the unstoppable force and the immovable object. It's just a matter of time for humanity to figure that out if that's the case.

I'm thinking of doing another re-play of this game. Am tempted to try out this Unpredictable Alien mod. The AI director's "leash" kinda made the game feel unimmersive at times and the alien became more annoying than scary at least in harder difficulties (never played this on easy). There's other people in the goddang station making noise, why is the alien glued to my ass and magically knows the area in which I am even if I was perfectly stealthy? Does Amanda constantly emit bad smell or something? (Well, probably does since I'd be sweating up a storm in such a situation lol.)

It doesn't matter if you have no map on nightmare, always pick up the map updates. Those consoles emit a lot of light and make you more visible. I have died hiding in certain places, not being able to hide in the light. When I picked up the update and made it dark, I survived. Never run, but always pick up updates.

Great gameplay! Nevermind the prowess of pacifist, nightmare and deathless (and never saving nor looking at the map)... What I really enjoyed is that you move in a natural and cinematic fashion, nothing like speedrunners and other walkthroughs I've seen. I'm using your video while I'm playing in medium (with Unpredictable AI), just to remember where to go... I'm only 2h in but I'm still struggling to understand why you place all the fire extinguishers in the middle of the path. Is it to hear the alien passing through them? Or to make them easier to shoot in case you need to scare him?

Thanks for your feedback! Yes my challenges are always immersive (except that time on Wolfenstein New Order when the game frustrated me too much haha but I'll redo that one someday). The canisters placement are indeed for noise detection but mostly for shooting to create the equivalent of a molotov explosion, it didn't happen on this run but search for the video "alien isolation pro move" (such a meme) on my channel to have a taste of what it looks like when it happens haha

Finished this game several times on medium (on PS4, Switch, MacOS, iPadOS and Xbox Series X) and once on hard mode… I have to say I’m struggling to see much of a difference to the Alien’s behaviour in this “Nightmare” level, except that it hardly shows up. I especially don’t understand how you’re able to run and use the tracker so much without drawing the alien towards you. The medical centre level in particular… that alien is practically rubber-banded to me the whole way through in hard mode.

A lot of items use to distract and gain some precious time, and walking (not running) makes very little noise, if the alien is in the vents for example you can walk without making any noise.

This is the tension of the unpredictable alien mod, it creates a false sense of security, and then knifes you in the back in the most brutal way gaming has ever known. Such a fantastic mod overall. Some scripts are still perfectly reliable though :)

Ah I see what you're talking about now, this is because of the use of the Unpredictable Alien mod. If you don't use the mod, the Alien will be much more persistent, however, it will be much easier to deal with him, with very predictable patterns and the use of flares / noisemakers / flamethrower etc... will work significantly better on him. This is the curse of the Unpredictable Alien mod, it will look like the game is easier, especially if we go by number of deaths during a run, but if your objective is to never die once, Unpredictable Alien makes the game much harder.

@@sumbunniii8721 It´s basically just running directly to Morley, pick up his keycard and then run back to Kuhlman. The Alien is stuck for a very long time in its spawning animation, so when it finally is free to roam you´re well out of its hearing range. The mission takes like 50 seconds max when you do this.

It was, took me 2-3 months of daily grind. It was just the second worst though, the absolute worse was Halo: Combat Evolved in legendary, sadly it was done when I had very unstable internet so while the video exists on my channel, it has very low quality and a lot of stuttering. I'll redo it one day. With skulls because why not lol. But the worst is yet to come, Far Cry and Unreal are going to be insane. I'm not even sure I'll be able to get those honestly.

@@PsiJohnics honestly the terror never really goes away, it's about learning your possibilities and building confidence around it. You're at medical? Use flares, noisemakers, protect yourself with gaz canisters that you can shoot, emergency lockdowns. There's a lot of possibilities. It's still going to be very hard though, good luck!

@@deus_nsf believe me.alien isolation is one of the few games i am happy to own a vr headset.the graphics are even on lower headsaet resolutions extremely sharp, and i shit my pants every time the alien spottet me and charge into my face.You dont have to buy a in my opinion pretty overpriced headset (for what you get in the end mostly) idk if grover is a thing in your location but i guess there are similar companys around.I rented my headset for about 25€ per month, going for 12 months.to cool thing is, when i reach to buying price of the headset its ownership goes to me (no shit).there also is an option to rent the headset, monthly cancelable (if that makes sense, not my native language.i am german :)) its a bit more expensive, but perfect to just have some fun with it without paying insane amount of money. sry for the novel ^^

Nope, but close, I wanted to show the whole story, I just forgot to play one audiolog during M17 iirc. I also miss some notromo logs which would have been huge backtracking.
