I watched this whole video thinking it was done by a channel the size of like totallypointlesstv or pyrocynical. However, when I went to read the comments and saw that it was done by a youtuber with under 20k subs and the video had less than 500 views (at the time of watching) I was blown away. Absolutely brilliant retrospective and I hope you blow up on youtube because you certainly deserve to! Great watch!

Your style of content is probably the most comfortable combination of humour and serious constructive criticism on KZbin. It’s never in your face and actually adds to the content in the video as it’s contextualised and appropriate for each segment. I'm so happy I finally came back to playing this game. I got scared back in 2014 and didnt touch it for 10 years before blitzing theough it in about a week on Hard (Glad I didn't try Nightmare 😅) But it was such a great game that I'm sad I didn't finish it earlier.

I guess I should also be grateful I played on the original hardest difficulty (I wanted the challenge but didn't realize Nightmare was added so that achievement was a surprise) because the tier list you made certainly stays more in tact as flamethrower ammo is less common and resources need to be managed more. He was nuisance for a little bit before he began learning and becoming a problem again.

1:30:00 You say that Taylor letting Marlow out wasn't explained, but not only does Ricardo mention it to you, there's a recording of the two of them talking about making a deal and when you enter the ship with Marlow on, he flat out talks to Ripley about it Villain monologue style. Taylor interjects trying to explain that he tricked her and the conversation ends. Theres several situation where the game tells you exactly what they did. I understand the frustration with having to pick up countless recordings to get the lore but this was NOT one of those. The game basically spoon feeds you

This video coming just after Alien: Romulus... coincidence? I THINK NOT! But ngl, brilliant. Survival horror is not my cup of tea at all. Done too much of that-ish in real life... but as the latest movie was heavily influenced by this game, I was genuinely curious. One friend said he stopped playing because it was too scary, other braver one played it multiple times and showed gameplay. Quite often I've come across random internet praise for this game... and now I know why. Thanks, your video was truly interesting and entertaining! Blade Runner replicants are humans through and through with organs and bones etc. Alien synths are just that with milk blood and noodle parts

Considering what happens in blade runner and the fact that Weyland Corp was the first company to truly ignite the manufactured workforce race. I can see replicants becoming the less popular option when It came to fake humans since you are right, Replicants are human through and through. They can't be programmed reliably or even really switched off. It wouldn't surprise me to see the industry go more towards robots that look/act human but are thoroughly controllable (Until they weren't)

Great video! I just got back for a second playthrough and finished it today. I totally agree with most of your thoughts. Though the flamethrower is only good until the Alien gets used to it and brute forces itself to nick your health or kill you. I'll have to check out the challenge DLCs most definitely. I'm someone who got terrified playing skyrim on easy and I only played cuz I could melee, I hate FPS because I am horrible at video games even though I love them I get scared so easily being in control of the character. I got alien isolation from a family video rented it for the weekend and actually started playing it that night and I ended up playing it all night until I couldn't keep my eyes open, fell asleep, woke up the next evening and immediately went back into it by myself in the middle of the night and couldn't stop until I finished it despite being terrified. It was one of the funnest games I've ever played but those slow walking segments made me wanna cry and the game never ending like the egg rooms and and finally blowing it up with the blue light I was like ffs END! I actually hadn't seen alien or any alien stuff except I love prometheus, probably because I didn't watch alien yet and love that movie so I didn't pick up on any fun little Easter eggs except I thought the shipwreck scene was from prometheus, I didn't get the importance of that scene perfectly replicating the original. Anyways as scary as the xenomorph is, I found the room full of working Joes absolutely brutal and I died endlessly. I tried floor venting and lockers and sneaking and I would keep getting to lockers up the stairs and dying so the androids were equally as terrifying to me and felt like they couldn't be dealt with. Also I accidentally put the settings at some point on hard while messing around or something to do with being more track able or I had a motion tracker thing from the Playstation VR connected to the TV and I remember how bad I f*cked up and there were like ten Joes and the alien trying to rip me out of a locker I'm like wtf did I do 😂

Alien blackout criticism is a shallow take, especially when you know it's essentially a remake of an 80s Alien game, DECADES before five nights at Freddy's. It's unfair to compare a mobile game to a million dollar blockbuster game. It should've just been added as a DLC for alien isolation, making it a "main entry" was it's downfall. The game itself is great for what it is, which is an elaborate mini-game. Fantastic rest of the video though, Alien Isolation is phenomenal and honestly doesn't need a sequel, it's a lightning in a bottle thing like the original film was. The Comic Alien: Defiance is a phenomenal sequel/prequel/alternate story to Isolation, where we follow Amanda's friend Zula Hicks and an walter-like android. The book is full of tension and massively keeps itself to the first film's atmosphere.
