I watched this with my wife and friends last night in IMAX, and we all loved it. I was expecting it to be as bad as Covenant, so I was happily disappointed in that sense. It could've been longer, but 119 minutes was time enough to tell a story like this. While many will feel like it's "fan service (it was in the positive sense)" or show the full movie in the trailer (it really didn't). In an ocean of bad horror remakes and sequels, it felt like a refreshing wave. I genuinely felt like a scared kid all over again when I watched Aliens at the theater in 1987. By the movie's end, I was excited. There were elements being given to the Xenomorph species (I won't go into details, so you'll have to see for yourself), and tying in elements from Prometheus and Covenant, and other Easter eggs throughout. Fede Alvarez definitely did the series and science fiction horror as a whole some justice with this one.

The sound effects of the facehugger and chestburster are brutal, love it. I'm so happy to see the franchise in the hands of someone who truly gets why Alien and Aliens are such masterpieces in their own right. You can literally watch Aliens first and Alien second and it would take away little from the overall experience. To (seemingly) be able to capture the essence of both movies and still manage to bring your own style into it by for instance leaning into the body horror. Then even go big on the practical and not get caught into doing it all with CGI. Fede is already making history within the franchise with what we've seen so far, that is impressive. I thought I'd never see the day that I would be counting the days to go see an Alien movie once again. I thought that ship had sailed and the abstract vision Ridley Scott gave us deserves praise too. Despite how predictable the plot was in Prometheus and Covenant the path was all but predictable and that made them very interesting to theorize over. But no matter if an alien bursted out of someone's back, throat, traditionally their chest or was surgically extracted. It always felt rather tame and obligatory. Somehow Fede managed to show us in these trailers multiple obligatory alien body horror moments and proves without a shadow of a doubt that as a director you don't have to drastically change a good idea in order to reinvent it.

Trailers are becoming plot summaries at this point.

It's a great 2 minute and 47 second trailer. I can't wait to see the 2 hour movie.

LoL, that's like reading 3 pages of a 200 page book and thinking you know how it'll turn out without going the distance. Impossible to judge unless you consume the entire product.

The fact that they’re doing practical effects for most of this is awesome.

I mean, they're certainly saying it's all practical. It's not true in the slightest but....
