Agree and disagree. I’m fine with the actors not being a-list, but these actors in this movie are very young. Kind of makes the movie look cheesy. Some adults would have been nice. Prometheus and Alien Covenant didn’t have a-list actors but they had adults, and those were great movies. Something about kids up in space makes it look super cheesy.

FIRST OF ALL! USING "YOU ARE MY LUCKY STAR" in the trailer is BADASS given that that song caused them to lose so much money in the first Alien film in 1979. Next, the homage to all the four films with Sigourney Weaver is brilliant: The face to face with the alien, the alien lifting people with its tail, the face huggers chasing, the final segment and its entire screenplay. You can feel the movie was produced by Ridley Scott form the first frame onwards and you can feel the movie was directed by Fede because no one else could do it this well.

@@Curt_Randall I hope you know that Ridley Scott recently said that as producer of this one, he is very excited for its debut. He even admitted that it the last two he's directed 'Covenant' and 'Prometheus' were not great. Fede Alverez has done an amazing job sticking to the original aesthetics and getting all the details right. It reminds me of 2014's video game release, "Alien Isolation". I bought that game and played it for months. It was a great sci-fi thriller game and contained a lot of the same attention - to - detail.

I watched this with my wife and friends last night in IMAX, and we all loved it. I was expecting it to be as bad as Covenant, so I was happily disappointed in that sense. It could've been longer, but 119 minutes was time enough to tell a story like this. While many will feel like it's "fan service (it was in the positive sense)" or show the full movie in the trailer (it really didn't). In an ocean of bad horror remakes and sequels, it felt like a refreshing wave. I genuinely felt like a scared kid all over again when I watched Aliens at the theater in 1987. By the movie's end, I was excited. There were elements being given to the Xenomorph species (I won't go into details, so you'll have to see for yourself), and tying in elements from Prometheus and Covenant, and other Easter eggs throughout. Fede Alvarez definitely did the series and science fiction horror as a whole some justice with this one.

One of the best films I've seen in a very long time. Going back for a 3rd viewing in IMAX
@GTChris4 ай бұрын
The sound effects of the facehugger and chestburster are brutal, love it. I'm so happy to see the franchise in the hands of someone who truly gets why Alien and Aliens are such masterpieces in their own right. You can literally watch Aliens first and Alien second and it would take away little from the overall experience. To (seemingly) be able to capture the essence of both movies and still manage to bring your own style into it by for instance leaning into the body horror. Then even go big on the practical and not get caught into doing it all with CGI. Fede is already making history within the franchise with what we've seen so far, that is impressive. I thought I'd never see the day that I would be counting the days to go see an Alien movie once again. I thought that ship had sailed and the abstract vision Ridley Scott gave us deserves praise too. Despite how predictable the plot was in Prometheus and Covenant the path was all but predictable and that made them very interesting to theorize over. But no matter if an alien bursted out of someone's back, throat, traditionally their chest or was surgically extracted. It always felt rather tame and obligatory. Somehow Fede managed to show us in these trailers multiple obligatory alien body horror moments and proves without a shadow of a doubt that as a director you don't have to drastically change a good idea in order to reinvent it.

Dunno where you're from in Britain, but my neck of the woods in London, most people talk like that. The stereotype of Brits talking in the 'Queen's English' is incredibly outdated. Christ, people used to talk like this back in the Ripper days on the cobbled streets of Whitechapel. It's nothing new.

Remember how in the original alien you had no idea who would survive. Ripley wasn't even in the first shot with the crew. I wonder if strong female in all the shots and with her very own featurette will survive

@@DaCryingChild how is his comment sexist? He's pointing out that the original trailer didn't give away whether the main character survives. We assume the strong female will survive the movie because it's a cliche not his comment is aimed at being sexist 😂

The movie is better than the trailer. These guys did a great job of keeping your attention and keeping you excited.
