Fede is saying a lot of thing I like. He says that in Alien we didn't get fleshed out characters but the writing and dialogue was brilliant. Secondly, Romulus will take its time to get to the horror, much like Alien. This is good news to me. I've spoke many times on my channel regarding my wishes for decent character investment but honestly, we don't have time for that. The writing needs to be spot on and the story must be cohesive in the time given. Fingers crossed.

Fleshed-out characters in a plot-driven film lead to down time with background exposition which kills the drive. You know everything you need about the characters in Alien from their actions.

I met with Fede and contributed ideas and visual concepts early on, brought on, as he said, due to my long work on ALIENS. The main point being the opportunity to meet and work with for a bit this very talented "new" guy in town: I was/am a HUGE fan of DON'T BREATHE, so aligning with him was a cool and worthwhile experience. I am pulling for the success of this film on all levels because i feel Fede certainly deserves it. He is a major talent. (Now, if anyone wanted to do another version of WHO GOES THERE, he would be THE guy to bring new life to that venerable classic story..)

This is an awesome interview. Fede is definitely the right pick for a new pure horror Alien film. He is both super passionate about the franchise and knows the lore inside out, but also very logical and sophisticated about the actual film making process. Also, seems like a super cool and chill dude to hang out with.

But I just loved the characters so much, they were so excellent. The cast was all excellent. So I'm biased as to why. Just loved the characters.

I realised that Fede is a true fan and he gets it. 👍🏻👍🏻 And as a follow fan of the franchise, he KNOWS fans will SURELY pick it apart if it’s not Logical for a character to react accordingly. Very reasuring that they finally got a Director who KNOWS what he’s doing! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I’m seeing it on IMAX with family and friends, especially since Fede says it here that it’s the Real larger Ones which I personally prefer and not those typical Classic Ones which I don’t find immersive enough.

I enjoyed the first half of the movie if you remove the fact that main characters are pretty much Gen Zs in space and the fact that Nostromo was literally nuked 3 consecutive times but there are still remains of it? The movie had good atmosphere hut over saturation of Alien exposure, Gen Zs and their solutions, recycling of dialogues and scenes kind of dragged the movie down in the second half. I definitely did not need return to …super, more intelligent, bigger, more mutated monsters that Hollywood thinks that it will be scarier and more cool. No!! It is not. We don’t need super monsters at the and just an original monster with more mythology and less exposure on the screen. In my opinion. It was an Ok movie but nothing like an original movie the experience I had seen 35 years ago

Notice how the question was brought up about selecting characters. Fede's response was that in the original Alien, we didn't get any character development. We didn't know them people. He's right. But do you know where he's wrong and what he doesn't have with his movie?? Amazing ACTORS. Who can just do normal stuff and build up character 😆 The GEN Z line up really don't have the qualities for them long shots on them. They try too hard or don't act normal 😆I've seen it with too many films. The ACTING is going to let this film down. It won't go down as a classic. Just a good movie

But I'm sure the masses will eat it up. Because aLIeNs dude.

His answer about which alien film is the best is Mt exact answer. Same with back to the future. I saw aliens first so it's Mt favorite. But Alien is the best film. Same exact thing I tell everyone. I even give my reason as the same reason as he does. I saw Aliens first. So it holds a special place in my heart as the movie that introduced me to the franchise. But Alien is the best. Wild. What are the odds? Same with back to the future. The first is the best. But the sequel is my favorite. Again, what are the odds?

Yep. Long dead IP being dragged through the sewer one more time. Creatively bankrupt idiots who can't get past a female protagonist and either a bunch of stuff we've either seen 100 times before in a glorified fan service shit fest or some new make it up as you go along, lore destroying BS.Cause thats what the Alien franchise sorely needed. Bunch of zoomers in space getting picked off Friday the 13th style as dime store Ripley saves the day. People seem to be eating this garbage up though...''Please sir. Can I have some more?'' Lmfao!

@@ricky93100 so I just watched it and I was absolutely bang on. It’s terrible. It’s not different either. It’s just a bunch of ridiculously over the top sequences. Theres zero story here, no character development, no mystery. It’s an overly long bunch of cheap horror sequences. The best way to describe it is that it’s like a fan made film but with a bigger budget. The original 2 were well written, full of great characters, great acting, great cinematography, high stakes, original ideas etc. The casting in this was absolutely abysmal.
