@@OfficialDNJmoviehouseGood answer. This is the original story Cameron wrote and filmed. Then he cut some scenes for theaters, which created a couple of plot holes, and when it was released on laserdisc he restored those scenes. The fringe director cut fans claim this ruins the "mystery" and the "pace," which is clearly false.

Interesting observation (after100 views). When descending on the dropship to LV-426, Hudson says "we're on an express elevator to hell, going down". Near the end, hell (the alien queen), is riding the elevator up to Ripley & Newt.

Fun facts: Carrie Henn (Newt) loved the vent slide so much she kept ruining the scene to try it again. Cameron noticed that and he said she could try it as much as she wanted for the rest of the day if they finished the scene. 😂 Paul Reiser (Burke) took his mom to see the movie. She cheered when his character died. 😅 Btw, he plays the good scientist on Stranger Things season 2. That picture of Ripley's daughter is actually Sigourney Weaver's mother. Cameron was allowed to direct this because of his huge success with Terminator. And because he showed the studio execs the word Alien and he added a $. There was actually a big guy inside the power loader behind Sigourney, but you can't see him, obviously. The film guys put a little pump behind her, without her and the guy knowing. She thought the guy was getting a hard-on behind her.😂 Gorman, the rookie lieutenant played the voice for Marshall Waits in Alien Isolation. Hicks plays Kyle Reese in Terminator. Bill Paxton plays one of the punks, the one with spiky hair. Bishop plays one of the detectives. James Horner got a little upset with Cameron on this movie, because he had very little time to make the score. But much later, Cameron brought him onboard the Titanic, pardon the pun. 😅

Additional Fun Facts: The original shuttle sets from the first movie were destroyed after filming wrapped, so for the opening scene they had to recreate the shuttle set in exact detail. The Atmosphere processor sets were built at a disused power station outside London in the UK and were left in place after shooting. Two years later when Tim Burton was making the 1988 Batman movie at Pinewood Studios, the Atmosphere processor sets were still in good condition, so they were reused for the Axis Chemical Factory scenes. Michael Biehn who plays Hicks, was not originally cast to play the role which originally went to James Remar, but was fired after being charged with drug offences. You notice in the movie that Hicks' armour doesn't seem to fit right in some scenes, because it was fitted for Remar who was much bigger than Biehn. There is actually one shot of Remar in the movie, where you see him from behind when they are going into the Alien nest. Counting the special edition, no fewer than Four members of the cast of Aliens were all voice actors on Starfleet, a British produced English language version of a Japanese sci-fi marionet series that ran on British TV over 1980-81. Mark Rolston who played Drake, played the pudgy comic relief character and Newt's dad was the hero. The series is best known for the rock album it inspired, by Brian May of Queen in collaboration with Eddie VanHalen, released the following year in 1982, since May's son was a huge fan of the series. The album got a remaster last year and is on streaming and the Series was posted in full here on KZbin. And because someone WILL post this, for the sake of movie comments bingo, Janette Goldstein who played Vasquez was also in Terminator 2 as John Conner's foster mother and was also the Irish Mother in Titanic.

Lots of people laugh at Hicks sleeping throughout the drop as if it was funny - it's critical for a soldier like that to get as much sleep as possible whenever they can before the mission starts, because there's no telling when they'll be able to sleep, let alone rest again.
@OfficialDNJmoviehouse2 ай бұрын
I can understand that, but it was still funny none the less lol!
@FilthTribeFTPАй бұрын
Man, the one thing I will NEVER understand in this movie (which btw, is literally my all time favorite movie across all genres, tied with "The Thing" [1982]. I have seen Aliens no joke, easily over 1000 times, probably even way more and can recite the ENTIRE script dialogue 100% word for word, while the movie is playing), is the fact that, after the realization that the ammo the M41A Pulse Rifle & M56 Smart Gun were currently loaded up with were explosive LAP rounds, I don't believe for a SECOND, that Ripley would just not say anything and object to having the marines proceed ANY further, so they could return back to operations and better prepare and devise a NEW plan that would allow for the marines to re-enter the hive properly equipped and able to neutralize any threats that may present themselves. Like no effin way she just waits until an actual chestburster exits it's host and the motion trackers all start poppin off in all directions. Of course, this isn't to say that Gorman would even LISTEN to her, if she had protested sending the marines in unarmed, and the same exact outcome would've happened (nor would it be very convenient for the pacing and plot either, lol 😂). But, other than that, it's a perfect movie to me, and this one little nitpick is a nothing burger anyways. One last thing... I had used to wonder how was it, that Vasquez and Drake's firing inside the hive, didn't end up causing a thermonuclear explosion, wildly firing all over the place like that? I learned the answer many years ago, when I had played one of the video games (I believe it was Aliens: Colonial Marines), once I got the Smart Gun, it actually has its own auto targeting system (hence the name "Smart Gun", and also what that optic was covering one of Vasquez and Drake's eyes, and probably ran to some sort of computer system mounted ob their torso). This system works basically like an "Aimbot". Displayed on the optic on the operator's eye, is a little visual indicator of when the gun is locked onto the target and the gun is then fired, and somehow (movie magic make believe 😂), the rounds being fired all hit the target with perfect accuracy, without have to manually aim the weapon, just as long as the barrel is point in a generally close direction of said target. Obviously, things like missiles and other guided rocket systems are able to achieve this same ability, because the guidance system is literally built and installed within the projectile, but I just dont understand how that would even be possible with something like a small arms round, let alone a caseless one (which are bullets that have a solid block of propellant/gun powder, with the bullet and the primer in a single piece encased inside the block. At least that is how external-propellant caseless rounds work. Internal caseless exists too, with the propellant and primer house inside the bullet). I guess suspension of disbelief would apply here, as it IS very far into the future from where we are today, lol. Anyways, this is why their firing did not end up rupturing the cooling systems, because all their shots were hitting their intended targets and didn't miss and end up striking the structure beyond any xenomorphs they fired at.
@OfficialDNJmoviehouseАй бұрын
Didn't know that about the smart guns, that's some cool tech! Reminds me of that cool gun in The Fifth Element that Gary Oldmans character uses. Another way it could potentially work is as long as your eye is on the target, if the gun barrel sweeps it then the gun auto-fires (basically like a trigger-bot in fps games today).

Great reaction! A near perfect movie from beginning to end......and like you said not only does it hold up, but it's actually better than anything today.....I feel like movies over the last 20 years with CGI look fake ....they look like video games...lol, and they always try to use many explosions to try to make up for the bad plots. I don't mind if CGI today is you sparingly or if it's used properly , but the problem is a lot of these directors or movie makers use way too much CGI and it's done in a way that's so obvious and not believable and shows you why practical effects will always be better than CGI.
@OfficialDNJmoviehouse2 ай бұрын
I agree with some of your points. But yes CGI done well enough to not notice it is the way to go IMO. The only part of this movie that looks dated to us was the scenes with the ship flying and CGI would have worked pretty well there. Thanks for commenting!

"Aliens": Third Officer Ripley has been found and taken to Gateway station with a Xenomorph-size case of PTSD. In 1986, I had a question about Ripley. In 1990 I bought the SE Lasrdisc(!) and confirmed that Ripley had been a parent. The added footage adds Pathos and depth to this tale. Sigourney Weaver has said that "Aliens" was about guns; I always thought it was about Family. 15:31 Ripley shows Apone and Hicks that she's not a front office paper shuffler like Burke, but a working class dog like themselves. 18:52 My take is, the Hamsters, like Jones are too small to serve as hosts. 21:14 I noticed that Ripley was able to "get close, quickly" to Rebecca, unlike the female Colonial Marines. A reviewer of the time said: "Sisterhood!" 25:04 Vasquez has spare fire control modules so the squad still has fire support.

1:20:25 NO. Avoid 3 at all costs. It's not just a bad movie. You can get over a bad movie. You can never recover from watching 3. It will ruin and taint your enjoyment of this movie. Look, I'm doing you a favor here. Newt and Hicks are killed in the opening credits. Off screen. Ripley crashes on a prison colony planet, she almost gets raped, and then she dies. She's implanted with an alien queen embryo, from a magic alien egg that shows up on the Sulaco out of nowhere. It's a stupid retcon, impossible to explain, and the entire movie depends on it. It's the opposite of the first two movies, which were about Ripley finding a way to survive in extreme situations.

The theatrical cut is so much better - the extended edition removes half the suspense from the story and makes the aliens seem less formidable. It reveals the queen before she's seen, and in the theatrical cut, you don't see the colony at all until the marines arrive, which is way more suspenseful. The only improvement that comes from the extended cut is the revelation that Ripley's daughter is dead.

@@danielpeckham5520 Like what? The only thing of importance is the scene about Ripley's daughter. The rest was cut for a reason - it removes the suspense. Showing the colony before and the facehugger ruins the eerieness and uncertainty when the Marines arrive.
