ALIENS: Another Day in the Corps - Mission 2 - Escape!

Hicks, Hudson, Vasquez and Frost are cut off after the Colonial Marines are ambushed in the Atmosphere Processor. Ripley crashes the APC into the building in an attempt to rescue them, but only if they Marines can make it there before being overwhelmed!

A rules clarification as I understand it: the white lines denote limits of movement. But line of sight is only blocked by the black walls with the brown-grey line. It makes it a lot easier to get more people to fire at the aliens (p13 in the rulebook).

Great bat rep - really nice to see these with painted figures. When you use the computer to look at a blip, you don’t replace the blip with xenomorphs - it makes a difference for movement, as blips only move d6, but xenomorph models/swarms move a full six automatically. Flamers can’t be used for defensive fire, as the weapon has the “cumbersome” key word. Gorman has to exhaust three cards to activate the smart gun; Vasquez only exhausts two because of her special ability. You can’t use defensive fire if the xenomorph begins its’ activation next to the target character (e.g., Vasquez couldn’t have used defensive fire to protect Newt).

Ash, when i played the first missions i learned quite quickly to always have the medical scanner as starting equipment. That would have saved ripley!

The flame thrower that Frost carries will effect the target square and all adjacent squares. The character using the flame thrower needs to be two squares away from the target. Frost's first shot had him adjacent to the target and with in the flame throwers field of effect. Unless you are playing that Frost targeted the square behind the alien attacking him, keeping himself out of the field of effect. I would allow that for a Hero but not a Grunt.

Did you not use the "full auto" ability on your pulse rifles or smart gun? Also I think the blips only move d6 and you were moving them the full 6? Love seeing this game on the channel, I played for the first time last weekend.

You can use the autofire rule when 'overwatching'' in case you missed that. Also that flamethrower whiff at the start was rough! :0

It was divine justice, since by the rules flamethrower can NOT fire defensively anyway.

Flamethrower is cumbersome. It cannot fire in defensive fire. You can keep firing the pulse rifle or smart gun if you hit on the first shot using auto fire exhausting appropriate cards and until you miss. If an Alien starts next to a character at the start of their phase No Defensive Fire Allowed and proceed to an Alien attack.

IMHO I think Aliens was the best movie in the franchise so was really hyped when I spotted your video. I'm a bit disappointed with the mechanics being a bit card heavy. Although playing this solo it's probably necessary. Nice to see a D6 not being used however.

References to “this character” on motion tracker cards refer to the character for which the card was drawn. You need to choose a character on the board before you draw each MT card. This is important for occasions when a tunnel appears because you need to know which character to place the tunnel marker next to.

They have revised the rules this year, you may want to rebuy it :( as B.S. as that sounds... apprently its a bit more refined now and they have redone a few rules / cards etc? Models are still the same in the base set, though they have redone the way you build the expansion's models ((they are more clip together than the originals)). I got all the 2023 releases minus "The Ultimate Badasses", store who sent it lllliiiiiiied to me and sent the 2020 version >:( lol There is also apprently a counter set that comes with higher market motion tracker tokens and a little pulse rifle, but I cant find it anywhere :S.

Maaaannn... this channel is awesome. This game looks great. It gets mixed reviews from people that don't have a hobby background. The miniature build/paint. Coming from a long GW hobby history that doesn't take away from it, for myself. How would you rate or compare it to say SpaceHulk?

As some other commenters noted, the Full Auto capability on the smart guns (and also the pulse rifles, I believe) would have been very helpful to you - it allows the marines to kill multiple aliens during one action sequence. Potentially fewer aliens making it adjacent to marines. Also, question: Did you ever play the old Leading Edge Games edition of Aliens? This was influenced by it but seems to be a much more heavily chromed version. Having played both I still have to give the edge to the old Leading Edge game - the rules accomplish the same thing with much more elegance. Plus, acid splash! Dead on a 0!
