I also recently bought it on sale. I love Aliens, but I regret my purchase. I had no idea this game has a time limit and the tutorial did not mention it. I am not enjoying it at all. Even as a tactical strategy game, it's too much work and manage. It feels like the developers said "how many different ways can we make this game not enjoyable?" and did it.

@Curt_Randall if it screws you the first time just consider that your trial run or tutorial run man. I was skeptical at first but liked it more and more.

@@Curt_Randall Isn't it rather subjective? My experience is different, I love the game. I play it on Nightmare and Noone can hear you scream. It has simply different mechanics and rules. I find it very relaxing.

A good mix keeps the spirit alive in the game. I wish there was more combat engagement and you wouldn't be punished for it as much.

Make sure you have the resourceful skill and every time you rest. Quit back to the main menu and hit continue. When you load vack in it will allow you to rest again, without using up another tool. I regularly build up to 50 or 100 mags and go toe to toe with the horde using 4 or 5 smart guns and suppressing fire

I really got into the Aliens franchise after Romulus. Im Really thinking about getting this and I loved Xcom. Is this worth it?

Why are you even asking? If you love XCOM and love Aliens this game is the best of both worlds. From one gamer to another I promise you will love Dark Descent.

As of last week it's on game pass and Playstation plus premium. Do it. A great game! But not easy. Even on normal you will die and reload. No worries. Learn and try again

Honestly a solid game I hope they do more with I was leery because I like to make my protag but they left me customize my own marine so I just self inserted and rolled on games a must buy it captures the fear of the aliens well no matter the difficulty and it’s truly terrifying when your down to your side arm and have to clutch it.

I don't like the fact, you can kill an enemy, go behind cover and the guy next to the killed enemy goes, "oh, it's probably nothing", with his mate dead, RIGHT next to him.

Here’s a tip find one room with one door and use it slowly move through the area sweep with your camera and light when you have someone doing something have men protect their flank when you got a horde coming use a room with one entrance and let em eat lead

For the flamethrower why is it sometimes aliens avoid it and other times will go through the fire? Is it distance based compared to the alternative non flame pathv

My first impression after I saw the Marines - a bunch of security guards who first time put their hands on machine guns. No armour, helmets, or mention exoskeletons or implants, torches instead of infravision, and other cool stuff we can see in every other futuristic game or movie. I understand that the movie is from the 80s, but after watching 'The Expanse' or even war in Afghanistan, it is striking how badly outdated these guys are. I hope gameplay will help me to forget about that as I can't get a refund.

It's because canonically the marines aboard the Otago haven't seen combat much, Harper mentions this. As you send marines on missions, they become more experienced, and you can put helmets on them in the customization

They are used to repair / equipment upgrade. You need a certain number of engineers to upgrade to certain weapon tiers

Each engineer produces 5 resources/day. By rescuing them you increase your ability to research weapons and upgrade your marines.

Stealth? Haha😂 funny. This has to be the hardest most frustrating game I've ever played. Aliens have an infinite amount. There's nowhere to hide, Marines are noisy the whole time. You can't be silent in the first two missions. I'm on "story" and already lost 4 marines in the first two missions. Once you alert the hive it's basically game over. Not alerting the hive is impossible

This is gonna sound crazy but hear me out. The second mission is BY FAR the hardest one for me. Your marines are garbage, no skills, map is laid out terribly. Once you finish that mission (IMO) it gets waaaaaay easier until about mission 6 when the "death timer" comes into play. It took me an insurmountable amount of time to beat the mission compared to the following 3 🤣

Man it seems like you played a game you knew you'd hate because it's actually a pretty good strategy experience. If you don't like stealth, go hard and murder everything with turrets and go gund blazing. Gameplay wise, this game plays almost exactly as advertised and is pretty good for when it was made
