I'm fascinated by Mr. Greene's ability to explain and describe complex ideas in wonderfully simple and eloquent terms. What a wonderful gift to humanity these two gentlemen are and we need more like them in the world communicating the wonders of science and rational inquiry to the general public.

I think they implicitly mentioned an important point that I have been thinking about for quite some time now - what if on other worlds some other highly complex entities exist that we wouldn't even call life forms because they would exhibit properties completely different from the properties of living organisms, and we can't even imagine them yet with our present knowledge of matter? Simply put, life is just an extreme form, expression or manifestation of chemistry - who knows what OTHER kinds of highly complex manifestations of matter exist out there? I wonder what their thoughts would be on that...

He founded a place for reason and science, not only is Richard Dawkins an agnostic, he's also a rationalist. I read quarter way his powerful book 'The God Delusion', it overwhelms with the religious antibelief of atheism. It's for atheists, I don't think it applies to a Muslim who's required not to believe in God if they become atheists.

I'm not a young person I may not be as smart as Dawkins but I am very good with people and I think some people can be threatened by intelligence and may take them the wrong way just because they are a little odd. I actually appreciate fundamentalist like Ken Ham. Sincerely, real talk. People like Ken Ham are honest about their convictions. Ham says "I begin with the Bible," and also that, for him, there is absolutely zero argument that can be presented that will change his mind. This is truly the power of organized religion generally and politicized religion in particular. In no other area of intellectual inquiry can one maintain such a dogmatic position, unflinchingly, and that is because religious propositions are neither testable nor falsifiable.

So fascinating to watch a scientist in one domain become excited to ask a question of the one in the other domain who then begins to explain but becomes too excited as he thinks about it leading him to ask a question he wants to know in the domain of the other scientist. THIS is the essence of science and the scientific mind and it is beautifully on display. Questions, questions, and more questions. What fun! A slight deviation from what you would see on a Theistic show.

For me, the best line was when Greene said that he believes that we're just "bags of particles following the laws of physics AND NOTHING ELSE". That is what I think. His story admits his irrational side, (I call it my reptile brain) which I also have. Sometimes I do 'pray' for a good outcome to something, even though I am completely convinced that prayer is meaningless. It's just that there's nothing else to do in some dire situations. It's like when Homer Simpson said, "I'm not a praying man, but if you're out there... save me, Superman!"

Superman? That's the ubermensch of America. I still think religion is not natural to get into, I think I'm getting tired of it, but religion is addictive, and it's getting boring. I'm not proud of my obsessions because I get bored with them. I'm getting tired of religion, and perhaps my cure of religion is getting closer and closer. I don't know what to believe, am I to be secular? I don't know. Religion is uninteresting if you think about it, and so is atheism, or maybe common religions are contemptible. Why can't people just do without prayer, God, souls, spirits and anything like that? I think maybe, just maybe, anything of religion is a disease, and atheists get laughed at. Atheism is a religion, and I'm so very bored, I don't know how to stop.

i wouldn't dismiss this kind of "jedi-ism", it may turn out that entanglement does have more effect than we can now detect, never forget arthur clark, scientists can be wrong, even greene admits to trying a prayer, they don't "work" but maybe they influence. thought for the day : if you pray basically you're telling god you don't like his current plan and that you have a better idea.

How great is it that we live in a time where we are able to watch conversations between the great minds of our time. When I was a kid it was hard enough to find out facts let alone hear the opinions of the top minds in science. Growing up in the 80s/90s you either had to be in the room with an expert or hope there was a book at the library to answer your questions. It was also super easy for people to make sht up and you had no way of fact-checking what they told you. We live in a great time, make the most of how easy it is to educate your self nowadays. 💯

@islanti Putting people in a room that everyone wants to see and recording it is, getting good content. If he didn't do it then we wouldn't have these conversations that we've been seeing lately so, that alone makes it good content imo BUT, I will agree he's hopeless at recording them, Richard and Brets talk had parts missing everywhere, the one talk everyone wanted to hear too.
