I'd love to see NECA make a new version of "Atax". He wore armor that looked like alien carapace, and had snap-on accessories that made him taller, as well as giving him very xenomorphic looking weapons and concealment. Awesome figure that deserves the NECA treatment.

Best review of Mantis Alien I've seen so far, great job with the lighting of it too. Yes, this is one of NECA'S best figs, but the joints on the knees needs to be retooled into those snapping/cracking sounding stiffer joints. Because of the weight this one & the Gorilla Alien fig, both have extra upper body design on back torso, needing stiffer joints on the double jointed knees & hind lower legs. With my Gorilla it's the usual Warrior Aliens body mold/legs problem: loose double joints at the knees that occurs occasionally with some of the figs. I wish there was a way to retool the tightening of those joints with bigger "tractor-like grooves" to create some kind of subtle "locking into place" joints like NECA's QS figs have!

Love this figure but right out of the box his torso is super loose. Even the knees were pretty weak. I had to use a stand and rig him up so he wouldn't fall over.

Wow, yours stands better than mine. Mine can't support its weight at all without the legs completely collapsing. Even in a deep crouch, I had to angle the backward facing joints against his thorax to keep them from sliding around, then balance him on his hook arms. Even then, the ankles are so weak he keeps leaning over until the claw hands slide away and he toppled over. It finally did that last week and fell off my desk, and the thorax part literally shattered off its connecting point. Clear green plastic splintered off so bad that there's no smooth surfaces to reconnect it with super glue. I love the figure, but the QC is rough.

I got a bootleg version of this. Anyone wondering how close they are to the original it was almost spot on except the silver paint job was a little more rushed than in the real one. The head and the back are missing a bit of silver paint; maybe a bit on the chest and crotch area as well.

The reprints are great not just for the paper quality, but for the paper shape. The classic Kenner line rolled them up and it's damn near impossible to get them flat for reading.

You're lucky, my mantis and other people have the problem where the joints are extremely weak. Mainly from the fact this thing has too many joints and they're too small

Well, I got one. I guess I got unlucky because the head popped off as soon as I took it out of the packaging, because the ball-joint in the neck simply wasn't attached properly - not in the neck, nor in the head itself. Just popped right off on both connections, and there's nothing to be done about it. This is my second NECA figure, the first being the Serpent Hunter predator. Both had some form of defect, with the Predator having something weird going on in the hips where it's almost as if the legs or spring-loaded, causing them to ricochet back to a very awkward angle whenever they're as much as poked, along with the wrist computer being completely warped and bent. I'm not buying NECA again. What's the point of a headless Xenomorph?
