Not read this one yet, the only Alien novel I've read so far is the original first movie novel and Tim Lebbon's "Out of the Shadows" which I loved. This one's on my TBR, excited to get to it!

I just got this on Audible after reading some good reviews and it's great so far. Btw, you are pronouncing her name right 👍🏼 Bronson Pinchot is narrating it quite well. I'm about an hour in and I'd describe it as like a Game of Thrones meets Alien. Thanks for the review.

When I like a property, whether it's from a movie, TV, comics, or whatever, I tend to take in all That I can. For example, yesterday I received the newest Firefly novel (it's the 4th one, with a 5th coming out next year). Glad to hear that you are digging this one.

So this story takes place in the future era of other alien stories? It sounds interesting but it’s kinda hard to think this society has no connection or knowledge of the present human world. Like how the heck did they get there in the first place? Great review though!

@@ErikSmith57 Oh okay. What might they may be? I’m fine with spoilers.
@ErikSmith574 жыл бұрын
SPOILERS... Best I can recall, generations ago, there was a Weyland-Yutani ship that was sabotaged. The only survivors of the crash were a damaged android and kids under the age of ten. The android sent the kids out into the world with nothing but some seeds and the advice to run away from the monsters. (I think that the android couldn't leave the ship because of something that the saboteurs did to him.) So, the characters we are reading about are the descendants of those kids, and have no idea that there are others worlds, let alone spaceships and androids. Does that help?

Not a bad idea. I kinda want to see it with some misleading advertising. You're sitting in front of the TV, thinking that you are about to watch some lowkey fantasy show, then, suddenly, XENOMORPHS!
@n.j47413 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I found the book rather mediocre. Firstly, the beginning was slow. Secondly, the start of the second half was great. Finally, at the end of the story, the world building with the suggested timeline of the history did not make any sense for me at all, which destroyed my good feelings from the second half.
@ErikSmith573 жыл бұрын
It's been awhile, so I don't remember exactly how the timeline went. I enjoyed the world building, at the beginning, but, looking back, I can see how some of it might have bogged down the flow. Thanks for watching and commenting!

unlike most franchise alien avp and predator arent actully based in the same universe and even then there are split cannons with in those series. the avp universe is a pick and choose kinda cannon, novels books movies and comics overlap each others cannon so frequently that trying to piece together a solid time line is kinda impossible because detailes of cannon get reconed so frequently. eg avp fire and stone comic cant exist in the same time line as any prior avp work because of its inclusion of prometheus and so on because prometheus and covernant retconned the alien origin. as fans of the series we are forced to build our own cannon surrounding different stories and where they fit in each cannon. avp predator and alien stories exist best when isolated from the rest of the cannon (excluding movies and video games which are concrete cannon) sooo any avp fan that tell you your not a big enough fan is full of shit because their cannon differs from everyone elses.
@ErikSmith573 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There is so much out there, Alien, Predator, and AvP, that, for someone like me, who spreads himself too thin, with so many varied interests and hobbies, it's tough to keep up with it all. I didn't realize that there were contradictory stories. Although I'm not surprised.
@engulfedinfilth3 жыл бұрын
@@ErikSmith57 it goes deep. Theres alien stories that contradict alien stories to the point there was a alien 3 comic made prior to alien 3 movie about newt and hicks that ended up being rewritten after the movie came out with new names to remain in the cannon. Even going as far to say the riply seen in the comic was an android. Then things kinda went off the rails from there. Any alien comic depicting the space jockey is no longer cannon. And if you wanna get technical theres afew dif canons for avp. Some latch on to different movies canon. Eg avp movie and avp fire and stone comic can not exist in the same series, due to fire and stones inclusion of Prometheus which retcons the alien origin meaning that the predators in avp movie couldnt of hunted aliens in ancient times. This kind of contradiction happens each time you read a comic that isnt self contained.

I haven't read a lot of the comics, mostly the novels, and not all of those. I wonder how/if the new Marvel comics series fits in.

@@ErikSmith57 i dont have faith in disney. They buy networking franchises like marvel and star wars and build new cannons from them. They did ok with star wars in my opinion(mostly through tv shows) and im not the biggest marvel fan but they do keep me entertained at the least. I dont think their suited to take on such a creature with dark symbolism beyond displaying it as just a movie monster. by the looks of the new comic they are jumping in the deep end and have a humanoid alien creature or hybrid which is like playing a strong card to early in the game.
