The GS GMT homage is nice, but the Tandorio version just landed in my postbox. Similar specs, but it comes with choices of dial colours and a textured dial. I went for ivory sand. I also chose the sterile version. The big deal is it comes in south of £50 delivered - Inc tax. It's terrific value.

I like the Addiesdive .. especially without the date window - i get that some don't like the ghostdate but costs gotta be cut somewhere. And the Hrouland is nice too - although never liked versions that cut off the numerals for the subseconds.

If you hadn't noticed, there's two variations of dial markings for the Hruodland. The matte black and enamel red have abbreviated numerals at 5,6,7 where the subseconds occludes them. the fumé brown dial has an alternative layout that omits the markers entirely at those positions, and has a different font for the numerals, different subseconds dial, and different chapter ring. I personally prefer the brown's layout, though I think I like the subseconds on the black and red better. Oh well. Also... hardlex crystal? Wild.

Great picks, john. I have my eyes on a particular baltany and possibly the green sm gmt, but it's sold out on the bracelet and will be a little more expensive to build it without. I'm probably still going to do it, but we'll see. That steelflier is really sexy and is something to think about as well.

Hi John, Do you have any idea why these companies do not use an NH38 for example for no-date watches instead of their usual NH35, the difference in cost is about $5. That would get rid of the "ghost" date aspect.

It's a great question that I can only guess at. I presume they have too much stock on hand of the NH35. The price difference is negligible so it must have been to do with what was available at the time?

Could be availability from Seiko - remember how many companies use Seiko movements, what these companies still have in stock or in fairness just laziness or greed for that extra $5 .. I think with these Chinese homage watches the margins are thin anyway. If more companies did that then I think it would become more standard.

@@johnswatchjoint All Aliexpress sellers seem to use the NH35 for just about everything, No complaints. it is a good movement, but I think the NH36 is a budget no date movement and the NH37 as well. but I am not a manufacturing company.

The NH35 is cheaper and most people don't seem to mind the ghost position or they don't express their dislike to the Chinese so they just keep using the NH35. Whenever I've mentioned it they seem surprised so its apparently a low priority.

I ordered the San Martin with the turbine dial (white dial with orange numerals) on an intro deal for US $205. In the privacy of this communication, which my wife does not see, I also ordered the San Marting GMT with white dial marble, and the Addiesdive AD2040 orange & black which you featured I think last week and which I need to have as it matches my Audi TT ... LOL. God help me 🙏

I'm not sure if it's a new release, but have you seen the Tandorio "Sand" dial watch? It's an alternative to the Addiesdive, except with an NH35 movement and a sterile dial option. It would be great if you would review that one too!

Mate, have you taken a closer look at the Hruodland hour hand? Now that I have I can't unsee it! 😂 By the way, DLC refers to a material, PVD refers to a process, i. e. not unlike thumbs and fingers, a DLC coating can be a PVD coating as well.

If my maths is right 30 more subs to 10K.....almost there.....Hope you have a great sense of achievement building the channel with good down to earth reviews... and no annoying gimmicks. Yes you do have a secret weapon in Molly cat but she can't take all the credit....ok yes she can..she's a cat...fair point. You can't go wrong with Addiesdive, and I'm getting serious Vario vibes from the Hruondland F027 which being a lover of trench watches is a very good thing. I want to like the IXDAO but the coating looks a little be non unform and somewhat "blotchy" , that points to being a really thin coating or poor adhesion..so maybe a suggestion of DLC....or they walked it past the PVD chamber while it was operating. Interested in your review if you do one on it. Here in the Peoples Democratic Republic of California I decided to give Vostok another chance .....just bought an Amphibia (purchased from Ukraine I might add) and like the last one I'm loving it....hopefully unlike the last one it will last more than 2 weeks. In counterpoint I've been vert lucky with my Ali watches, the Steeldives, Addiesdives, and Seasterns, have all performed flawlessly Cheers👍

Molly being very unwell and a vet bill for £500. Two of our three cars being un drive-able with electrical faults.. Another £1000 to repair. Switching internet to full fibre which I was assured would be hassle-free but we had zero internet for 6 days and now a £400 monitor just out of warranty blows up. A really crap month!

Choice events are as regular as clockwork. Seriously low prices and if you follow the store you get further discounts. The other big sales you can use sale price, saved discount codes and special limited codes to stack.

I hope next month goes better for you ... I had a couple of months like that too (father three times in the emergency room .. we missed out on celebrating Christmas, New Years and Easter) then we just had our driveway redone and once completed they weren't happy with the quality of the work and redid it (only consolation is that they did it at their cost) but that took a whole month.
