Yup. "Works when I think it shouldn't" is way more frustrating and scary than "Doesn't work when I think it should". Thank you for showing us your work through the problem here. Interesting stuff.

Ive been to that problem,typical to dle 170 but if you change it to a good quality bearing its good.

My problem is trying to get the old one out. Might just buy the bearing and another gear to press into it.

Could you please give me the measurement of this propulsion?

No new videos. Is it still dead?

Yeah. After this video it acted up again, so I ordered new bearings. The new bearing lasted 4 starts and it broke too. So now I'm having a friend that builds gocarts install a motorcycle style starter, should be more reliable.

Oil is the problem, but not by causing it to slip. In roller clutches the rollers withdraw ever so slightly into recesses in the cup. (These things are actually hella precision) It looks like the assembly is open into the crankcase, too, which won't help. I suspect that gum and varnish had stuck the rollers into their recessed position. A good cleaning with carb cleaner should work. I share your suspicion of "it fixed itself" but in this case it looks like the paper towels were the fix, at least adequately to restore function.

Thanks, that's what I thought too, more gummed up oil. When it started grabbing again I used some brake cleaner and stopped it back out. We'll see how long it lasts

@Avery Flies Oh and BTW- a solenoid pull-in type starter engagement would probably be much more reliable. If that option doesn't break the bank.

@@michaelhamm6207 yeah, DLE makes it that way now. I'm just waiting to hear back and confirm that it bolts on what I have now.

What did you pay for that unit? Would you buy it again? I've seen them listed on Alibaba but I refuse to make a purchase, little skeptical.
@AveryFlies2 жыл бұрын
After tax, shipping, and upgrades I'm right around $3200, though it couldve been flying for $2900. Use PayPal for buyer protection, and watch my other videos on it. It is low powered and has a bunch of issues that need sorting out before flying.

The important is the engine is working again. Let's watching. Today I was fly, and I started the engine on ground, the engine accelerate, and the support with propeller fell out. Starting the engine using the propeller, sometimes the engine start reversed...

Eek, put a cloth in / over the inlet port after you removed the carburettor. The last thing you want is a nut or other component dropping into the engine.

I've never bought anything from AliExpress I didn't have to 'fix' or modify. So nothing new. The best part about these thing is that they are cheap and you get to make them as good as you want.

too true. I didn't expect it to be good.

A little unnerving when the problem fixes itself like that. Not knowing when it'll happen again isnt fun.
@AveryFlies2 жыл бұрын
Too true. One way bearings are finicky on RC cars too. Luckily this doesn't impact the engine *running*, just starting. So if it messes up, you're not falling out of the sky, you're just not getting into the sky. But, like I said, I show all aspects of my flying, not just the pretty stuff. Ppg has a lot of maintenance involved.
