I recited the Istikhara dua day and night before making the decision to get divorced and , Alhamdulillah, I only found khair in this choice. Truly, He is the best planner, SubhanAllah.

so i noticed the shykh in this lecture, did a lot of consulation w/ the audience living upto the quranic advice, consult them.. mashallah beloved shykh is attempting to be walking quran, like our prophet. Mashallah even when he jokes its subtle n modest without embarassing, the haya on my man :) may Allah ease all affairs of the shykh n make his path smooth. Love you for the sake of Allah... Everryone, lfe has its ups n downs.. but when u say Allah it is ok, i accept your decree than your heart will find ease.. pain will be 10fold less can u are trusting in Allah's decree.. n rremember prophet said test is at the 1st hour of calamity befalling u later eveyone copes but at the hearing of some calamity, stay calm is the call.. I recall 9 months ago when my dad was passing away, i knew that hadith n it allowed me to stay firm n not cry... because so much had to be done n i was sole person doing it.. having accepting the decree gave me the strength to carry out the duties n now i look back, wow how did i achieve all this on my own.. funeral the washing the burrial.. now that i think about it.. i cry NOW that i remember him but in that moment of test that hadith of prophet helped me achieve thru patience n perserverrence... So when calamity strikes.. stay firm, like Abu bakr who consoled Umar R.A so what if the beloved died, Allah is alive.. our first love is Allah... everyone else is secondary. May Allah give us all strength n sabr in times of calamity n ease.

Istikhara du’a 15:57 اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلاَ أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلاَ أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلاَّمُ الْغُيُوبِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ شَرٌّ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ، وَاقْدُرْ لِي الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرْضِنِي بِهِ Allahumma innee astakheeruka bi ‘ilmika wa astaqdiruka bi qadratika wa as’aluka min fadlika al-’adheem fa innaka taqdiru wa la aqdiru wa ta’lamu wa la a’lamu wa anta ‘allaam ul-ghuyoob. Allahumma in kunta ta’lamu anna haadha al-amra khayrun lee fee deenee wa ma’aashee wa ‘aaqibati amree faqdurhu lee wa yassirhu lee thumma baarik lee feehi wa in kunta ta’lamu anna haadha al-amara sharrun lee fee deenee wa ma’aashee wa ‘aaqibati amree fasrifhu ‘annee wasrifnee ‘anhu waqdur lee al-khayra haythu kaana thumma ardinee bih O Allah, I seek Your guidance (in making a choice) by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by virtue of Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power, and I do not. You know, and I know not, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter [mention the thing to be decided] is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, my worldly affairs, and in the hereafter then decree it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion, my livelihood, my worldly affairs, and in the hereafter then turn it away from me and turn me away from it, and decree for me the good wherever it may be and make me content with it [Sahih al-Bukhari #6382].

Is it haram to base a decision on a “sign” from the nature? For example, I saw that in a documentary about the conquering of Istanbul, the Turks considered the “bloody” moon a sign of good omen and a sign from God that they will succeed. I was listening to an Islamic scholar and he said that we should be positive and consider some things that happen in our life to be a positive sign for a decision, and a sign from Allah that we are going in the right direction.

I don’t think signs are haram just don’t base any choice by things you see, like being superstitious about it. I think there are certain signs but we must choose based on Islam, Quran and sunnah and our ability of understanding. The « signs » shouldn’t make us do things otherwise. But Allah know best, I think the whole « signs » things can make someone paranoid
