Funny when I first heard the song without subtitles I could hear the guys heart broken. I then found this, read the lyrics and its strange because the emotion he put into this- the beauty of the accompanying band along with its meaning truly transcended the barriers of language. Seldom does a song like this come along, that which renders you almost at a loss for words but this song has pretty much done it. Kudos and thanks for sharing.

Your statement was beautiful and well articulated, just one part is incorrect: it's actually very common for songs to overcome the barrier of language and tell us exactly what they mean, providing we're talking about SONGS, true MUSIC, the first and finest of arts, not noise pollution and sheer garbage, which is unfortunately very common to find nowadays as well.

Aline" was the first great popular success that made known to the French public "'Christophe" of his real name Daniel Bevilacqua born in 1945 who composed and wrote this song . It was the hit song of the summer of 1965 where the song competed for the head of hits parades and record sales with "Capri c'est fini" by Hervé Vilard.Talented melodist, his collaboration with Jean-Michel Jarre musician renowned for his synthetic music( and son of Maurice Jarre composer of soundtracks of famous Hollywood films like Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Jivago, Ghost) culminates in the 1970s with superb songs entered into French heritage like "Les mots bleus", ". les paradis perdus Paradise Lost", "Senorita" or "Petite fille du soleil Little Girl of the Sun". He passed away from Covid in April 2020, and people in France were singing on their balconies and windows his songs, including "Aline" in her honour during the lockdown. His last success was at the beginning of 2020 when he rebuilt one of his songs from 1977, "Daisy", which he performed with the famous French model and actress Laetitia Casta.
