I show you how to anchor an image into the text in Indesign CC so it stays with the text when doing an EPUB export. This method forces the picture to stay where you want it in the text even though the image floats around on the Indesign layout. This will not affect where the picture appears in a PDF export but only fixes the position in an EPUB export in Indesign CC.

Hi, thanks for your epub videos. I notice that when you first open you epub you have content on the left page (1). All my epubs start with blank page on left page (1) then continue with content. Is this a setting somewhere? Thanks!

There generally shouldn't be a blank page to start. In Indesign, the first page should be recto (right).

@@ALinsdau strange as I am using single pages in IND. But epub put a blank in on first spread!

I cannot get it to work. I see the mouse cursor with the small T after clicking that blue square, I drag it to where in the text I want it to be anchored, but nothing happens. Well, it happened once, but I cannot get it to work again for other frames I am trying to anchor.

I am laying out a book that has many images and I using the option to have the images start a new page that works perfectly but my client has one extra photo he wants at the end of a section. Is there a way to tell Indesign to ignore this image starting a new page or is there a way to convert the image so that Indesign doesn't see it as an image? I tried converting it to a .pdf in Photoshop but it still sees it as an image. Thank you very much!!

If it's an object, Indesign will treat it like that. Best of luck.

Thanks for this. Is the caption rasterised or still live text?

Why is the image smaller in the ebook than in the Indesign file? Is there a way to retain the image size?

It requires some editing in the ebook.

Always lucid; many thanks. I am asking this question to any expert I can find: Here's where my document veers off course: I have about 30 photos, in frames with borders and shadows. All frames are the same size: height and width. All are anchored throughtout this 6x9 book and fit within the left/right margins. But when I convert to ePub (3 reflowable, anchored, etc), some of them move off centre. I have tried everything related to Object Export options, ePub export options, resizing, etc. When I delete the image completely and put it back, or any other image in its place, with or without the frame, that image moves, too. I thought perhaps it was always on the right-side page, but nope: it doesn't seem to matter. This is killing me. I have a huge project coming up and I need the images to stay put. Have you come across this? I'm on the verge of telling all my book clients to just not bother with .epubs if they have any images.

Image position can be a killer in nonfiction layout. How you place the images in the text is a key. My course on nonfiction book layout talks about this and might help: www.udemy.com/course/adobe-indesign-for-nonfiction-book-layout-complete-guide/?referralCode=864F36DAF68014E701B0
