It always triggers me so much how people try everything in their power to make evgenia looking bad by taking her quotes out of context and/or shortening/manipulating her quotes ….. of course it was “normal” for her, everyone in her environment had it that was what she meant so she knew no different … she talked openly about how important it is to be and eat healthy, so people just stop trying to bring her down 🥰

they arent making her look bad, shes doing that herself. over the past year almost every time she opens her mouth she says something that makes her look bad. its clear that shes speaking her truth and its not a pleasent truth. its gotten so bad that im no longer a fan of hers. and many other people are in the same boat.

i think Zhenya was misunderstood by many people about the way she spoke about eating disorders .A language barrier will always be a language barrier you can never truly understand what somebody says just by looking at subtitles .The tone of someones voice and their culture makes a big difference .She never looked down at anyone that has an ED .And like Zhenya said sports like figure skating and gymnastics force you to be very skinny and athletic as they rely on weight .

It would be amazing if u covered ladies from 2014 Olympics. I think it would also be cool if u did an overview at the end of each season mentioning for example your 10 favourite programs, best & worst dressed ; best moment of the season etc.; u could also do a similar thing with skaters , meaning your favourite program or performance of each skater/ team including Russian girls but also legends like Mao, Yuna or Michelle Kwan. I think that is a great off- season idea and I would certainly be very interested in your opinions about this.

The quote by Tutbiridze was honestly so scary to me in terms of how nonchalant she was about it. When I saw ''Evgenia Medvedeva's shocking comments'' I though of what it could be, but when I saw why so many people are mad at her, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Yes, she could have worded It a bit better, but I think what she said wasn't even that bad. The question she got was invasive, and I think she tried to get the attention away from her own struggles by generalizing them, which I think we can all agree is pretty much true? Even if every other athlete of mentioned sports doesn't have a full blown ED, they at least have to be on a special, monitored and calculated diet, which even if they deny it, is a form of disordered eating, and it's still disordered eating, even if it doesn't damage their body, like we mostly see with figure skaters of today's age. EDs are all about the brain, and I myself think Evgenia isn't fully recovered yet, and is just trying to deflect all the attention thrown at her way because she spoke about her ED, and all of the responsibility the skating world wants her to have. I think this is a dangerous mindset from fans, as it could potentially scare more skaters from ever speaking about their ED publically. Plus, I think that it's not Evgenias responsibility to guide people to resources just because she's open about having had an ED, I think it's a responsibility of the adults, parents, coaches and the associations to help the girls. In short, I think Evgenia truly didn't want to come off in a negative way, but she's only trying to sort of distance herself from the topic of EDs recently, because she might be going trough a rough patch of her recovery, or maybe talking about it right now might trigger her. Not everyone who's had and has recovered from an ED wants to be an advocate and help other people, not because they're selfish, but simply because they really don't want to deal with it anymore, since recovery could be a long and draining process.
@KoffiiTit
@KoffiiTit Жыл бұрын
As a recovered person, it just kind of made me sad people think the things she said here were super bad, because in the early stages of my recovery, if anyone mentioned to me that they had trouble eating that day, or that they felt bad for how much they binged the night before, I just couldn't respond. I froze, because I just didn't know what to say and how to say it, I didn't even want to acknowledge that I had an ED, and I think Evgenia is doing a similar thing right now, but can't really run away further because the media already knows she was struggling at some point.
@idalia799
@idalia799 Жыл бұрын
I don't think it's right for you to hold Evgenia to a western standard when speaking about eating disorders in the sport. I can't say if the russian coaches directly encourage them to engage in such behaviour or if its a consequence of the immense pressures these girls are under to train for olympic glory and that then it's ignored because well...the girls are keeping the weight required. How it was done? *shrug* Evgenia lives in Russia, her whole life is there. She has everything to lose by speaking out or for encouraging the current generations skaters to not fall into those habits because it directly threatens the potential for Russia to gain medals. Individual skaters are disposable. That's the Russian way. I obviously disagree with how russia treats their athletes, but that's the reality. One side remark about how it's an occupational hazard might just be the most honesty you will ever see.

I am Russian and have watched the Last Axel. It is sooo problematic it would cause a scandal if it was a Western drama. It literally glamourises Larry Nassar-type sexual abuse of an athlete. Basically it portrays the young girl (fake Kosternia) as a 'vixen' that is after the doctor, while the doctor is just a poor helpless man that is caught up in her sexual advances. It unironically includes a scene of this 40 year old dude sending a dick pic to a teenager and tries to make him appear conflicted/complex/sympathetic. Then this 'affair' gets uncovered and fake Eteri never reports it and just puts him on leave...sad that this part isn't too inaccurate from reality. Then, it portrays family violence in a cartoonish manner, basically making the protagonist's father look like a cartoon villain..implying that if the abuse doesn't involve throwing your partner around and force feeding her (that actually happens), it's not abuse. Not only that, the protagonist is almost raped by a character, and then they become besties again within 2 scenes like nothing happened. Not to mention the countless times the camera lingers pointlessly on women's bodies (including Evgenia Medvedeva, who appears in a pointless dance scene). I am not even an SJW...but the show was bad enough to make my blood boil....

I'd like to know your thoughts on Meryl Davis and Charlie White vs Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Arguably Davis/White were the only real significant loss to Virtue/Moir but does the longevity of one couple make them better than the one that beat them? or is that due to the fact that after they won against them that they retired? I also love anything Adelina Sotnikova related because whilst she should not have won gold, she was still a good skater and I think the gold really ruined her career. After the fs she behaved like a spoiled brat, hugged one of the judges in front of the cameras the minute yuna’s results were up, stated *to the press* that yuna said that she deserved it only for yuna’s team say that they’ll sue anybody who spreads false info about her as she didn’t say it, left the press con in the middle because nobody asked her any questions. There’s ton of footage, it’s kinda sad. Yeah, sochi was truly a shitshow.

11:58 @Paola, 1988 had a slew of storylines. The main event was the Battle of the Brians Orser and Boitano, but the forgotten one is Elizabeth Manley's Cinderella run from completely unheralded to silver losing to Katarina Witt by 10ths of a point. This overshadowed the BIG one which was Debi Thomas of USA being hyped as the great western hope to slay Katarina the Red Baroness. Thomas was being hyped Nancy Kerrigan style but flopped in the LP opening the door for Liz to shock the world and nearly topple Witt. Beyond this, we saw Olympic debuts for Kurt Browning, G&G, Viktor Petrenko, and Brasseur & Eisler. So Calgary '88 was a pretty great year for figure skating.

I don’t find her saying ED in skating is the “norm” as brave because that’s already obvious. Everyone pretty much knows that, it would’ve been brave to say that something needs to change about it and not continuing to let it happen. All she did was state the obvious The oh it’s the norm attitude is actually very problematic

Honestly, it bothers me when journalists ask about things like eating disorders for a puff piece to act like they're "being brave" for "getting to the truth!" or some bullshit. Everyone with a modicum of common sense knows that the world of pro athletes (and of acting or modeling or ANYTHING that has the person using the look of their body as the tool of their trade) has, at BEST, disordered eating because they need to have a super regimented diets (which YES, it's fucking disordered eating and that's a a form of eating disorder, end of story). At worst, they have outright harmful eating disorders. If you want to talk about eating disorders, make an actual piece on eating disorders in sports and how it's almost a fucking pre-requisite in order to have a career in professional sports. Talk to actual Olympic Committee members who make bank off these athletes who only see a very small fraction of the money their performances generate. Talk about what the actual heads and judges of a sport should do, NOT what individual athletes, who are mostly teens since sports have a SHORT career shelf life, do to better their chances at their careers. Not this half assed bullshit. As it is, Evgenia's answer was her describing the reality: you can't have a professional Olympics career without disordered eating (at best) and/or eating disorders, hence why she specified that you have to deal with it after you've finished your career. What? Do you want her to lie and blow smoke up people's asses? No, it's best that any pro athlete hopeful knows what they might get themselves into. And it eating disorders horrify you so much, how about you actually send letters of complaint to the Sports Committees that allowed for this to become the norm rather than dogpiling on a former athlete for telling you the truth about the reality of what being a pro-athlete is like in the present day.

I think you should review K-pop generations understanding how they branched off! You can do first generation and new groups debuting, also a history on the record labels are always a good topic especially the top. I just attended a mamamoo concert in New York and you can see the difference from a good label to some of these really bad labels (look up the travesty of Crayon Pop- a group they blew up and the record label couldn’t handle it so the group suffers) other groups like Kara, mamamoo, 2ne1, Hyuna, maybe a brief bio of “where are these groups today. Some groups have such a good history and deserve recognition for paving the way. Look at the abuse of the lead singer of 9muses. She was fired as leader and then terminated from the company and the group suffered after that. You articulate so well and you have a eye for good K-pop groups!

Here’s my selection for ice dance pairs that you solicited. You won’t like it. 1st, Aliona Kosternaia and Anastasia Zinnina - the two best artistic skaters who have ultra-c elements. 2nd, Daria uUacheva and Sophia Akateva - both amazing ice dancers. If Sophia can stabilize her ultra-c jumps she will win gold at the next Olympics (If the Russians are allowed back but they shouldn’t be unless huge political changes are made). I hear Daria U. might be moving to ice dancing. I think that’s a great idea and if so I’ll start watching ice dance (though I did peek when Vasilisa and partner became seniors). Daria was going to win gold at the NHK when Trusova dropped out even without ultra-c components. She was better than any other country’s skaters. I wish Aliona K. had chosen ice dance rather than pairs. Enough with a sport that risks injuries and since Aliona is the best ice dancer already she could dominate that sport for years. I also believe she would’ve won gold in Tokyo had Yuri Placenta not tricked her into his camp. And his unwillingness to cover his Siberian sized nose with a mask during covid also led to her getting sick and interrupting her training. She certainly would have won any Olympics up to 2022. Finally, I don’t think Kamila should be held accountable for her positive drug test before the Olympics BUT ONLY IF the whore of Beelzebub and her team are banned from coaching for years. It would be interesting to watch if Sophia and Adelia would do as well without her - I think she has made a deal with the devil.
