Aliona Savchenko: "Usain Bolt gave me a lot of energy!" | Exclusive Interview

Aliona Savchenko won the Bronze Medal in Figure Skating in Vancouver 2010 and also in Sochi 2014. But at the Olympic Games 2018 in Pyeong Chang, she finally claimed gold! We talked to the German talent about the secret of her success, her inspiration and her plans for the future.

2050. Aliona is 66 years old, competing at her 13th Olympics. She still somehow manages to win and prove everyone that she is actually superwoman with the help of her new 19 year old partner (Bruno finally retired after 32 years of winning exclusively gold together and Aliona saying everytime that this REALLY is their last season).

We can only wish.... She still loves competitions and now Bruno has come around - after the 30th gold medal! But what's different is that Alijona and her cute-as-a-button husband like to go out drinking and dancing all night. It's their lifestyle - finally.

I expect we’ll see both of them teaching, coaching, commentating, doing an occasional exhibition, writing a book, etc. etc. I had read that Bruno was pretty much broke due to the sponsorship difficulties. He is happily earning back what he spent on his path and hopefuly more. This was a phenomenal performance. I have watched it maybe a hundred times and it still brings a tear or three to my eyes. It is very inspirational and says to never give up: “It isn’t over until the very last second”.

Yeah 30 years fighting for that one goal, most people can't endure one year fighting for their goal or dream! She is not just a role model, she is a hard core role model for people who want to be remembered for all time, have their name written into history for what they did!

She's our favorite for all time. If you rewatch her Gold moment you can see how nervous Bruno was when skating into starting position. He had already doubled some triples in the short program and can you imagine the pressure on him. But in the end he was the perfect choice to earn the gold -with his unbelievably poised strength and steady lyrical execution. Like Gods they were. Don't forget Bruno!

Let's be honest here. Yuzuru is a great single skater but he could'nt be a pair skater. He would be too small and tiny to throw and lift a girl. I think Aljona just tried to be polite.
