yeah, acoustic player here, thats the equivalent of the whammy for acoustic, hes not pressing the body, hes holding it so he can bend the neck forward a bit, a lot of acoustic player does that, nuno did that in "more than words"

The bending of the neck is him hitting a natural harmonic that rings out without fretting the note on the neck, and then “pushes on the guitar” as you called it, to bend the note to achieve the desired pitch. It’s a common method used on acoustics and electric guitars that don’t have a tremolo bridge to bend the note like u would be able to with a whammy bar. Sincerely, a guitarist.

Listen at around the 6:18 mark and you'll clearly hear why he is tapping the body of the guitar with his right palm. Actually while he's doing that i think he is pushing the neck forward with his left hand so as to loosen up the strings. Not 100% sure if im correct but i can definitely here the note kind of fluctuating down.

The pressing guitar thing is risky because you press that part while simultaneously pressing the neck forward. It creates a bit of distortion/whammy thing going. That's what I get from other guitarists reacting to this.
