I first saw this beautiful lady with Tony Rice in New Hampshire in the late 80's. I think she may have been only 18. been a fan ever since. this album in particular is filled with many tears for me. it was a difficult time in my life and these very emotional songs got me through some dark times.

Back in the late nineties I had the incredible opportunity to work with Alison ( i was working for TNN at the time) and she wanted to fix a problem on a Christmas show that she had recorded earlier in the day. I had no idea what to expect but when this woman showed up in my studio I was just so knocked out by her presence. So kind, and mellow, incredibly generous and complimentary. I was beyond myself. She invited me over to meet the band (she was performing that night on the Opry) and from that evening on, I was hooked. believe me when I say, she is exactly what you see. I love me some Alison!

The song "Away Down the River" as played by this group of musicians and sung by Alison is the most beautiful song I have every listened to in my 66 years of life on this Earth, better then the Beatles, better than Tony Bennett, better than any other song that has ever been recorded. This song "Away Down the River" is the perfect song for all humans to listen to over and over to love the pure art of music. the voice of an Angel and the immense talent of all these musicians with the passionate lyrics from Julie Lee and this brilliant blend of music writing from Ms. Krauss. Bill Knack from ESPN told a story about how Jack Nicholas told him he started weeping while watching Secretariat win the triple crown race at Belmont. Incredible voice forever..whether she is singing with Union Station, studio musicians, Robert Plant, or with a high school group (on youtube) or whatever - her voice encompasses what music is. I do have to admit that I love the Union Station stuff the most. I had the blessing of putting together my dad's celebration of life on a zoom setup last year and closed with her duet with Bocelli and Alison doing Amazing Grace (owned through amazon) at the ending - all in tears and happiness
