I first saw this beautiful lady with Tony Rice in New Hampshire in the late 80's. I think she may have been only 18. been a fan ever since. this album in particular is filled with many tears for me. it was a difficult time in my life and these very emotional songs got me through some dark times.

I deployed with the Army in 2011 and again in 2015...this angel sung me to sleep almost every night. If I do happen to deploy again, I'm hoping she's released even more music.

Back in the late nineties I had the incredible opportunity to work with Alison ( i was working for TNN at the time) and she wanted to fix a problem on a Christmas show that she had recorded earlier in the day. I had no idea what to expect but when this woman showed up in my studio I was just so knocked out by her presence. So kind, and mellow, incredibly generous and complimentary. I was beyond myself. She invited me over to meet the band (she was performing that night on the Opry) and from that evening on, I was hooked. believe me when I say, she is exactly what you see. I love me some Alison!

Although she is an unprecedented singing and fiddle prodigy who has surrounded herself with the best vocal and instrumental talent, every work is about producing the best song possible. No one individual, not even Alison herself, dominates the production. Alison and each individual artist contributes their part, not out of ego or self promotion, but with a pure single purpose of making the song a masterpiece of perfection. A rare talent unique in any endeavor in today's world.

Get me thru December. The song "Away Down the River" as played by this group of musicians and sung by Alison is the most beautiful song I have every listened to in my 66 years of life on this Earth, better then the Beatles, better than Tony Bennett, better than any other song that has ever been recorded. This song "Away Down the River" is the perfect song for all humans to listen to over and over to love the pure art of music. the voice of an Angel and the immense talent of all these musicians with the passionate lyrics from Julie Lee and this brilliant blend of music writing from Ms. Krauss. Bill Knack from ESPN told a story about how Jack Nicholas told him he started weeping while watching Secretariat win the triple crown race at Belmont.
