Wow !! What a great find. Few people realize what a great fiddle player Allison is. Didn’t recognize Adam Steffey. Another magnificent picker. Allison Brown s gone on to achieve near Bela Fleck status.

Art Fein's Poker Party aired on Public Access Television , which was created in the 1970s to give non corporate entities and opportunity to reach a large audience. It was publicly funded, the studios were donated by the then fledgling Cable TV companies, and the directors and crew were often composed of students from local schools. Therefore, the production values were often notorious and hilariously terrible, which looking back on 50 years later, becomes a charming element of these shows. You need to put everything in context to understand that Art Fein presented musical acts, music industry people and music journalist at a time when the only contemporary music the public could see were acts selected by Dick Clark or Johnny Carson. Art Fein was a pioneer, and his small but loyal weekly audiences were made of almost entirely of out of work musicians and actors, dope smokers and crazy people. ... Enjoy (fodel)
