One of the best duets I've ever heard, beautiful song, beautiful music, flawless rendition, perfect harmony, any singer who chooses Alison Krauss to sing a duet with makes the best decision ever, can't stop listening to them, play it over and over again

Love Alison she is just the best. Jamey harkens back to the days of George Jones, Merle and Waylon. When Country music was country not the latest version of pop. Awesome.

alison krauss's vocal is sensational!!! had me crying...........i'm and old guy didn't know of jamey johnson....his vocal is also very impressive . very sensitive, heartfelt interpretation. Every now and then a song makes the singer rather than the singer making the song. This is one of those songs. Hank Cochran, Timi Yuro, Eddy Arnold, Willie Nelson all produced individualistic versions, all beautiful.

Now, dont everybody jump on me at once! This is very beautiful, however, I still love Elvis' version best. Especially, when he strains saying, "Get it off, get it off, my shoulders," I just start to bawl in that part... it makes me think he probably really felt like the world was on his shoulders at times. Anyway, saw this & had to listen. Beautiful song, beautiful voice! Really pretty & very good job. Ty for sharing! Oh! Almost forgot, Eddie Arnold, love him too!! 👍

I'm with you actually...when it comes to Jamey. I uploaded this because of Alison whose voice in beauty is up there with the likes of Elvis imo. But Jamey..he sucks all energy out of me within two bars of any tune.

Can't say I agree with you. I am very happy Jamey asked her to join him on this song and that he had the good sense to basically have her be the lead. A strange thing to say "never ding a duet with Alison". Since there are so many great duets with her around.Especially if you aren't all that great a singer yourself in fact, Alison is your girl because her attribution always lifts a song to a higher level.

Hank Cochran was in race studios on July 2 1964 when Jim Reeves records his song as a favor since Hank was going thru a divorce. It was done one on the fly with two takes. . Released after Jim's death.

I couldn't agree more with you. Having a great voice is not all it takes to be a great CW singer/balladeer. Heck, lots of the CW greats didn't have "great" voices, but they sure had something that made me love listening to their songs over and over and over. I think it has something to do with their twang, their soul, their emotion, and their honesty.

I don't know about Richard but I'd say though the timbre of Jamey's voice is pleasant, he simply is not a great singer. There is more to great singing than just having a pleasing voice.
