I recall listening to this on a Camdenten, MO, radio station, when it came out in '68 or so. The fun of the song came blazin' through the airwaves.

I was in a classic rock band on the western coast and the only country that we ever played was Johnny Cash and Johnny was so good I admired him a lot he went through a lot in his life but he proved that you can come out on top all you got to do is work at it rest in peace Mr Cash the Men in Black

She was an absolute nut, a narcissist, was jealous of his wife that he left her for (who was definitely a lot prettier than June!), was cruel to the children Johnny had with her One of June’s children ended up living in a bus and died by suicide Johnny really was cruel to his first wife and she never recovered and basically abandoned his children he had with her for quite some time

Back in the early 80's John & June had a concert at a nearby race track near my our housr. My mom & I went to see it for $5.00 each admission! I remember when they sang 'Jackson' June was kicking up her heel & her shoe flew off her foot across the stage! Good old Johnny retrieved it for her. They were awesome!!!

This is awesome. Thanks for posting this. This must be some of the last footage featuring guitarist Luther Perkins, who died 5 August 1968. Luther was one of the original members of Cash's band, The Tennessee Three. A legend in his own right, Luther was one of several famous musicians born on January 8 (1928). The list also includes: Elvis Presley (1935), Shirley Bassey (1937), The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger (1946) and David Bowie (1947). What a great day to be born...

The last televised footage of Luther was on the Summer Brothers Smothers show, July 25th 1968. It wouldn't air until August 25th and Luther was already gone for a few weeks.
