This week we welcome Alison Moyet to the show. It’s only taken us 3 years to get her on, but it is well worth the wait. Alison has some incredible stories of her career in music, hanging out at school with members of Depeche Mode and The Cure and starting out in Yazoo with Vince Clarke. She continues to enjoy a wonderful solo career: her new album ‘Key’ is out now and next year she embarks on a huge world tour. You also can’t miss her incredible stories about how she got to Live Aid and who with, plusworking with Lamont Dozier.

One of this country's finest voices, up there with Annie Lennox and Dusty Springfield. I still love the Alf album especially All Cried Out, still gives me goosies. It also goes without saying she's still absolutely gorgeous!

fantastic lady. i never really GOT her in the formative years but i've come to greatly admire her. jus wish the mic wasn't in front of her expressive face 😉 also.. jus recently started watching this series & it's brilliant. brought back many memories of my early music exploration. the range of musical styles covered is fantastic & its so illuminating to hear who influenced the folks who influenced me. thank you for these. much inspiration & appreciation has been afforded to me by you guys 🥰😍

I drove 1,500 miles up and back for Yazoo Reconnected in 2008 and I'm seeing her again next April. Cannot wait. Gary and Guy, this is hands down the best interview I've ever seen with Alison. So funny, so grounded, so honest. It's true when they say you don't get older, you get better. It has been a joy and privilege to follow her career over the course of nearly my whole life.

Really refreshing to hear Alison’s take on her achievements. Her insight into her coming into her own identity is real and gritty. I loved her music in the 80’s being born early 70’s. Her and the like of Spandau Ballet transport those in that era to times when life felt unencumbered and anything was possible. Simpler times and more soulful with spirit, I feel. She really has grown her talent and spirit and owns her she is… without pomp , inflated ego or entitlement. It’s endearing , I am now going to repeat again myAlison Moyet you tube tribute session , now that I have seen this … and check out ‘My house’. Thanks guys

I just started watching and who’d have guessed the topic would be metal, “hot metal”. Alison brought a strong jazz and blues sensibility to her own music, thankfully pop music also gave her the wider exposure that she deserves.

Great interview. I grew up in Billericay and visited Basildon often then, going round the record shops at the weekend after punk records. I'm sure Alison remembers the Pop Inn record stall in the market. For all I know I may have crossed paths with Alison without knowing it. I remember the old guy on that stall guarding the box they kept the punk singles. Remember going to what was Crocs, but was early 80's when it became the Pink Toothbrush, which thankfully it still is.
