I'm in recovery and yes the back and forth is me not wanting to confront patterns of behaviour to then being ready and wanting to learn and grow. I am feeling happier and steady as of late.. however I'm in fear of growth yet desire the growth. Exactly, as you put it... I don't know what within me is resisting the process. And past lover has come back in and im resisting this as i often get hopeful that change is possible and have my head in the clouds when it comes to romantic relationships.... however i feel im different and now and he is the same as he was 20 years ago... new me is not wanting to be triggered or falling back into old patterns and in the past hoping that things will work out in my favor and trying to control it has never worked... so im like nah not giving this situation as much attention as i did 20 years ago.
