So, you're very right here. I do see it. Resistance to the closing off you speak of is me wanting him to come around and be fully committed to me as I am to him. When you're invited somewhere and the food isn't to your taste, and you know it beforehand but accept the invitation anyway, do you say "I wish I didn't have to eat disgusting food today"? What is the expected result? People changing their behaviour/lifetime recipes for you?
