I think the absence of birds could be explained by a number of relatively likely reasons. 1 The cultists coming in such large number would naturally force wildlife away. 2 Foraging naturally large numbers of humanoids in a medieval too Renaissance period would need to eat and obtain building materials and fuel causing many to eat birds and fell trees forcing more wildlife away. 3rd and lastly birds naturally tend to avoid most predators including humanoids and even if “Elves” have some kind of deep connection with nature when the birds witness their nightly rituals of torture and murder I’m inclined to think that connection would be some what frayed and further promote the local bird populations decline.

I never undestood if Melakith was a good guy up until he failed to become Phoenix king and being burned forced his hands into civil war or if he was comploting with his mother all along and it was just all a setup for his coup d'etat that failed.

From what I've gatherd it seems to me that Malakith was a real good guy in the beginning. The turning point in his life I think was when he put on the Circlet of Iron, that seems to me what changed him. During the first civil war he allready posessed the Circlet of Iron, so it stands to reason that he was either in league with her (Morathi) from the get go or that he wanted in on the action as soon as he was aware to get rid of his political enemies.

Alith doesn't tell anyone that Malekith has returned. He was told not to by the 'messenger' he keeps it to himself until a message comes from another source. He is told to try and convince them not to march to Malekith but without saying anything. Great story telling but I find that there is a lot of embellishment that didn't quite happen how it does it in the book. Great channel though!

I still don't understand how so many dark cults could appear among the high elfs. I mean, they are torturing other elfs, which is the opposite of what elven culture is. Why would they do that? How do they find recruits? There must be a very slow ramping up of the dark stuff, but how can that go unnoticed and enthralle so may of them? I’m new to Warhammer lore, got interested while playing Total War, so maybe I’m missing something. But I read the high elves eventually accepted Malekith as the Phoenix King. How could they forgive him after all the twisted evil shit he did to his own people? Did Alith forgive him for what he did to his family?

Ethan Palenski Malekith was willing to destroy the vortex and let demons enter the world again and destroy it. I just can’t fathom how the elves could forgive him. He is also responsible for the deaths of millions, caused the war between elves and dwarfs which entire cities were destroyed, led to the dwarves almost being wiped out in the times of woes, massacres, tortures, sacrifices, regicide. Not to mention preying on every race to take countless slaves. Like I said I’m new to this so this is just surface stuff I know about. I just don’t get how the elves could turn to him no matter how bleak times were.
