I was obsessed with Bonanza as a little kid. I had never seen anything like the food bar. Not just because of how much stuff was there, but it was the first place I could pick anything I wanted to eat rather than have a grown up plunk a plate in front of me.

We had one in my hometown of Eden, NC. The building is still there, and now it’s a popular Mexican place.

I was vacationing with my wife in her hometown in Puerto Rico a few years back and I saw one and demanded we eat there. It wasn't that great, but just to go somewhere that I spent a lot of memories as a kid with my family was worth it to me.
